I have been working at Crowell & Moring full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people are what keep me here, and this is a sentiment that I have heard from many long time members of the Crowell family.

    Cons

Base salary for junior level positions is substantially lower than market. The investment in and dedication to junior level employees is inadequate.

    Advice to Management

Show your junior level employees they are valued through more substantive opportunities, career growth, and compensation that is on par with the market.

I worked at Crowell & Moring full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The culture is a big differentiator - people work hard, but there is little emphasis on face time and work for the sake of work. There are several practice groups that are top-of-field and these groups and the people who run them are easily accessible.

    Cons

As pressures increase on firm revenues across the profession, there is more hours pressure.

I worked at Crowell & Moring full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Relaxed atmosphere and an open door policy. People generally want to help you do your job well. Firm does quite a bit for The community .

    Cons

Well it depends on you speak to but I have generally have a good experience with the various teams I work with. Some attorneys are a bit particular about how they like things but nothing too crazy.

I have been working at Crowell & Moring full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Opportunities for promotion within the firm are average. Overall, this is a great firm. Loads of opportunities to grow and learn.

    Cons

Not really many I can think of. Other than the fact that the company is too top heavy and at times overwhelming.

I have been working at Crowell & Moring full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

C&M is a good place to work. The benefits are competitive and they make an effort to seek feedback on areas of improvement.

    Cons

There aren't too many for this column but I would say that sometimes compensation isn't in line with market (read too low) and we can be initiative crazy sometimes.

    Advice to Management

With strongly aligned management, the firm could continue to grow as long as we don't compromise what is working for the bottom line (i.e. $$$).

I have been working at Crowell & Moring full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Crowell is a gem of a law firm. It is a larger law firm with the collegial atmosphere of a small firm. The management team is cohesive and with the partnership has generated a vision for excellent client service, growth, accountability, and profitability. The firm has some leading cutting-edge practice areas and is strategically evaluating new areas and locations on a regular basis. From the equity partners to the mail-room staff everyone is respectfully treated and works together seamlessly.

    Cons

The parking in the DC office is expensive and difficult to maneuver, but parking is outsourced by the building.

    Advice to Management

As we have all seen other law firms fail, or otherwise flounder, it is refreshing to be a part of a firm that values the partners, attorneys and staff with a strong leadership and a vision for the future.
