I have been working at Crump Life Insurance Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay is what keeps people.

    Cons

The work environment is what forces people out. Mental & physical health are more important.

    Advice to Management

I am not simply a disgruntled employee. I don't write reviews but felt it was important to save others from an oppressive work environment. Crump continues to neglect appropriate staffing to meet work volumes. Productivity standards are unattainable. Supervisors lie in job interviews. It IS a call center. There IS high turnover. Talk time IS monitored. Quotas DO exist. Forgot to mention mandatory overtime. Actions speak louder than words in reference to training. Career candidates are told there's 6 weeks training. Looks great on paper. Information is presented but nobody is available to answer questions when doing the work bec they're on the phone or trying to reach unrealistic production standards. New hires are instructed to instant message questions but rarely get a reply. How is one to learn a job? They don't, & are made to believe they're lacking. Giving full attention to verbal communication with customers is Customer Care 101. Crump does the exact opposite. Processing other work while speaking with customers is encouraged. I am not alone. Morale is low. Middle management's hands are tied. The higher-ups need to put a budget together that addresses the impact on those that feed them. Profits aren't only about cutting costs & work quantity output. CUSTOMERS are the bottom line - internal employees & external agents. If cost cutting is the concern, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand the cost incurred from employee turnover. I wonder if BB&T is aware of Crump's inability to focus on the 'eight ball' or perhaps that is the very reason it continues.

I worked at Crump Life Insurance Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of time off. Good place for single mothers . Honestly not much else. It took pulling teeth just to get them to buy us pizza

    Cons

Micromanaged. Supervisors don't listen. Management is unfair. Work load is too high. They promise people promotions that are never going to happen

    Advice to Management

I worked for Crump for a little over two years and saw numerous people come and go. This high turn over rate was only in my department. Management needs to ask themselves why that is.

I worked at Crump Life Insurance Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They hire just about anyone with some experience.
You work the basic 9-5 job and work does not follow you home.
You can get away with doing minimal work.
You get 10 sick days a year as long as you call in "sick".
They have offices in UT and MD

    Cons

Don't get fooled by the "bonus"! . You may earn $100 -300 every Quarter . Not the $3000-$4000 annually! BB&T makes you pay taxes on your bonus.
If you work hard and exceed your goals . Crump does not give raises. They never have and never will. You can get a modified increase to keep up with the economic basic standard. 1% a year if your lucky.
You work three times harder as an Sales Support Associate than any other position. Your are actually an Internal Wholesaler in a call center. Since you TAKE calls you get paid $15K less than an actual Wholesaler who does outgoing calls . They restructured the work load last year (2016) when the new executive was put in place so the SSA teams does even more work than Wholesalers but, they never adjusted the pay scale. So, they simply were told to work harder with less staff to save on $$$.
The LTC supervisor does not support, listen or lead the team.
She simply delegates, trouble shoots and monitors a screen all day and does payroll one a week.

Computer systems are laughable. Only two to three systems work at a time when your expected to work with over ten systems at a time. The IT team has to work with really bad systems and you cant fix broken! So they are stuck fixing systems that crash daily.

If you work really hard, hit your numbers and don't take time off. You absorb your co-workers workload since they just call in sick!

    Advice to Management

You do not have leaders. You have dictators! If your Sales executive make bonus it is not because they worked hard. It is the SSA life and LTC team that hit the goals It's the Case Mangers who did all the long hours at 6am and LTC team who stayed till 7pm running quotes. Its the "little" people you step on while you play Golf!
If you work for BB&T bank and can't get a personal loan, car loan or credit card because you don't make enough money! That is a HUGE issue.
You have licensed staff who have to work additional jobs to afford utilities. We are advised to call local churches, family or friends or call the EAP hot line if we need help.
How can Kelly King make over 8million while his associates huddle together to make ends meet?

I worked at Crump Life Insurance Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay and location were nice. That really was it. There was no sense of belonging here.

    Cons

Favoritism. Lots of it. Worked harder than my coworker who had been there for 8 years who barely worked or showed up. Lots of micromanaging and stress put on employees. Barely any training. Supervisors would get mad if you asked questions or needed them to deal with a client directly. Strict attendance policy that only applied to "newbies". No room for growth.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with respect. Listen to them. Don't micromanage.
