I worked at Cummins full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The best job I ever had. Once hired full time my pay would have been 22.35. per hour operating a Haas CNC 3 axis automated drill press. Co-workers were friendly and if you needed help they have a great team of maintenance personal and engineers to help or guide you in your daily work routine.

    Cons

Expect to work long hours . Four shifts: A,B,C,D,.. 10 and 12 hour shifts. But it's not that hard just do it.

    Advice to Management

My advice would be to hire someone like myself who completed a 180 probation period without missing any days or being tardy and no points in a 6 month probation period. It was a huge let down for me.

I worked at Cummins as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    1. Platform to work with one of the biggest supply chain and operations in the country
    2. Freedom to take your own steps during the projects
    3. Freedom to take multiple projects, in different areas, which helps an intern to explore his/her interests.
    4. Business leaders address the interns and share their own experiences, which makes you feel a part of the Cummins family.
    5. Excellent support for the interns to be effective during their internship and complete their projects.
    6. Relevant projects are given.

    Cons

    1. Experience vary with locations. For ex - experience as an intern will not be the same in Columbus and Memphis. Reasons can be due to HR, intern activities etc.
    2. Full time employment confirmation might take a long time.

    Advice to Management

Expedite the conversion to full time process.
Uniformity in HR roles and how they handle interns. Memphis MDC HR was not so supportive and hence it made interns not feel like coming back after the internship period.
