    Pros

Good company with college assistance a good package overall as long as you work on a good team it's not bad

    Cons

Not always a big work life balance and not a Lot of flexibility that can wear on a person. Insurance could be better

Don't hold employees back within the company and try to be understanding of an employee's situation

I have been working at Cummins full-time

    Pros

Diversity is highly prized, and rightfully so. Employees are encouraged and supported by management to develop skills. Decisions are made based on data, not feelings...

    Cons

...Getting that data can be slow, do sometimes decisions seems to be long and drawn out, contrasted to the desire to move quickly. Can create stressful tension sometimes.

I worked at Cummins full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Very relaxing low-pressure environment.
    Very inclusive, multicultural corporate culture.
If your Dream-Job is to have no personal responsibility, if you would like to be judged by how many Hrs. you work without any implication of achievement, that Cummins is for you

    Cons

Cummins culture (as a minimum at Rocky Mount Engine Plant) is a great failure.
Quality is slowly, but steadily falling.
Technical problem being dragged without solving.
Retention of Engineers are very low. As a matter of fact I do not know any engineer younger 45 years old who works for Cummins (not as a manager) without string attached (work Visa, tuition reimbursement e.t.c.)
My advice to young (as well as not that young) engineers:
If you would like to be judged (and promoted) based on your accomplishments, not working Hrs.
If you prefer to take responsibility for your decisions, not blindly follow instructions.
If you want to make a difference, not just work 10 Hrs. a day.
That you should avoid Cummins at all cost.

    Advice to Management

There is no management - administration only.

    I worked at Cummins full-time

    Pros

    1. Good camaraderie within peer group at manager level
    2. Indiana cost of living is low compared to other large mid-western cities
    3. Lot of social activities during the summer

    Cons

    1. They recruit MBA plus two years consulting experience for director level (2 levels above fresh MBA), so better off going to consulting
    2. Directors are inexperienced and it shows e.g. no people management skills, lot of BS (know it all attitude), very academic approach, inconsistent behavior
    3. They have trouble attracting good people evident by hiring directors with two year post MBA experience (rumor was that directors were asked to move out by consulting firms)
    4. Director and above is all white male
    5. If you suck up to directors they will like you and ignore your deficiencies, otherwise good luck!
    6. Highly questionable career path
