I worked at Cuny Research Foundation part-time

    Pros

The laboratory experience was amazing. I look back fondly on the time I spent in the lab recording animal behavior for hours on end. You begin to prefer animal company to humans :)

    Cons

    The pressure can numb you.

    Advice to Management

Scientists should be trained to handle signs of distress in high achieving lab members. If a straight A honors student with years of excellent work becomes burned out, please help them. They deserve to stay on their path of excellence, even if they lose themselves temporarily.

I worked at Cuny Research Foundation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great place to work if you value your life outside of work. Friendly, understanding and laid back atmosphere. Excellent benefits.

    Cons

Very little opportunity for advancement. Nepotism. Not a learning organization which hinders success of individual & org. Not enough team players.

    Advice to Management

Put more emphasis on the selection process. It's OK to evaluate performance of your employees. Talent goes unnoticed. Underachievers also go unnoticed. This negatively impacts morale and success of org.
