I have been working at Cuny Research Foundation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits, everything easily manageable online, most interactions can be had directly with your PI.

    Cons

Administration is horribly lacking in organization and follow-through. I was at my position for 2 full months before receiving a paycheck. When trying to contact the RF directly about issues with timesheets, benefits questions, etc. it took several days to get a response, if I got one at all. I loved working in my lab, but having to go through the Research Foundation complicated every little thing and they were very difficult to work with.

    Advice to Management

Be more invested in your employees and making administrative matters flow smoothly.

I have been working at Cuny Research Foundation part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great opportunity to work and contribute to large research endeavors that can impact the world. The researchers are very passionate about what they do and only want to see their assistants excel in what they do.

    Cons

Not much negatives to say about working with researchers from this foundation. I have worked on parts of research projects that make me feel like I contributed to a great cause.

I worked at Cuny Research Foundation full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

A great place to work, with interesting projects. The benefits are generous and most of the staffers are pleasant to work with.

    Cons

Most folks who work at the RF main office are great but when you work on a project at different location you have to deal with an interesting group of people who do not work for RF and can be quite challenging. Unfortunately, RF does not offer much help in difficult situations, since they only administer grants.

  9. "Excellent institution"

    Pros

Good institution to work at for anyone looking to begin work as a Research Assistant. They provide good benefits and can even pay for classes.

    Cons

Decentralized institution with labs across the CUNY system. It can be a little disorganized at times. Some labs are in need of major upgrades.
