I worked at Curtin University full-time

    Pros

Good if you want to receive a salary for minimal work and not looking to learn anything new or progress in your career.

    Cons

    - Real job scope varies very differently from what was published in their hiring ads.
    - No staff benefit if you compare them to other Singapore education institutions.
    - Low to no pay rise each year and forget about getting a bonus if you are not in the manger ranks.
    - Staff events are planned/organised just for the sake of one when the management do not give all staff time off to attend. Those who are on duty remains on duty and no prior words of consolation were given from the management to these staff and thus makes staff feels very excluded.
    - Lack of formal orientation for new staff.
    - No staff cohesion.
    - Staff gets frequently deployed from their own work to assist in other duties not under their purview
    - lacking when it comes to instilling good values into students. The management seems only to care about recruiting students to make money.
    - ... And so many other things I cannot be bothered to talk about.

I have been working at Curtin University full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I work with fantastic people in an endlessly varied, fascinating, challenging and satisfying job. Teaching is a fantastic way to connect with people, and to see your subject with constantly fresh eyes.

    Cons

It feels like there is constant administrative change and restructuring, a never ending increase in the weight of procedures to be followed, and time spent on these aspects can restrict time spent on the core job objectives. However, I guess thats the price of working in a 21st century university. From what I hear, Curtin is no worse than others and better than some.
