I have been working at Curtiss-Wright Controls full-time

    Pros

The people you work with on a daily basis making coming to work enjoyable. That is what gets me here each and every day.

    Cons

The management and their decision process. They are missing out on what is important to the general population. Ask you employees what needs to be fixed! The are close to the problems and have the solutions

I worked at Curtiss-Wright Controls full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The benefits were great and the people that do the day to day are great people to work with. That's all I can say as a pro.

    Cons

Lack of career growth, too many managers at the top need manager training. The top leadership is more concerned with the bottom line than the satisfaction of employees. Employee Morale is at the lowest and it is hard to believe that this use to be listed as a great place to work. The theme is doing more with less and that is how everything is done. This hurts the lower level employees. There is a lack of training that is evident from managers, directors and ect. If you are looking to start your career this is the place to learn, once you have that knowledge under your belt it is time to run. There is no work life balance at all. You never get catch up on your work because you are completing the work of 2 to 3 people. Even on vacation, if you have time to take one, you are still working. there is a lack of diversity in leadership. The upper management is so out of touch with the every day employees that is it sad. Upper management is focused on the bonus checks they receive, they don't care that employees are leaving. They are too busy living in their own world.

    Advice to Management

Learn what is going on in your divisions. pay attention to the turn over rate and stop worrying about more with less and get the employees some help. If all your experienced people keep leaving there will be no none there to do the work. Allow employees to have work life balance,

    Pros

The people at this business unit were great. Team players, always trying to improve the business, hard workers

    Cons

Corporate HQ only interested in raising the stock price-which, to their credit, they have, but at the expense of many business units and jobs. Reduced R&D to zero in most business units, thereby amputating their ability to generate future business in new industries

I have been working at Curtiss-Wright Controls as a contractor

    Pros

It is difficult to find pros for this company. If I had to say one thing, they have free coffee, but of course they stopped providing cups.

    Cons

Too many changes occur with the projects, nothing seems organized. Project milestones are always late because of these changes. Their "training" occurs only after you have already been taught informally by coworkers. Employees are not paid for holidays.

    Advice to Management

Provide more motivation for employees to work harder.

I worked at Curtiss-Wright Controls full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They promoted the workplace as a "family unit." All of the workers were friendly and the atmosphere promoted solidarity. Everyone worked well together and there seemed to be a general feeling of pleasantness in the workplace.

    Cons

The upper management lacked a clear vision and micromanagement was a huge concern. Due to obvious favoritism, there was some animosity between certain departments. This also contributed to certain individuals who were not necessarily qualified for certain jobs being promoted into positions that they couldn't perform.

    Advice to Management

Hire the right person for the right job and micromanagement will not become an issue. Try to avoid very obvious favoritism.

    Pros

The engineers and technician are good to work with

    Cons

The management is incompetent and the workload at times is not reasonable.

    Advice to Management

Very top heavy. Do you really need 5 levels of management for a handful of engineers?
