    Pros

Diversity, Good work culture, Dynamic, Progressive, and Good work atmosphere

    Cons

Hierarchies, No personal connection as the organization is too big.

  2. "Administration Needs an Overhaul"

    Pros

Lots of paid time off. Short work day. Mission is inspiring and adds value to our community.

    Cons

Too many to list. Lots of unscrupulous practices. Hiring and promotional opportunities based on who you know and who likes you. For an institution of higher learning, one would think diversity of thought would be encouraged -- not so. Those delivering service to students are on an honorable mission, so it's unfortunate those in Administration (specially HR) are not.

    Advice to Management

Clean house. Start assessing leadership and administrative support on metrics, rather than personalities.

I worked at Cuyahoga Community College part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The students are wonderful, which makes the work rewarding even as the job is terrible.

    Cons

The institution is taking advantage of the professional backgrounds and dedication of adjunct faculty - it refuses to pay a professional wage or grant any benefits. As a professional, I find this to be demoralizing and insulting. There is also almost no opportunity to advance to a full-time position. If you can't threaten to leave, you have no leverage.

    Advice to Management

You are setting a terrible example for students by exploiting their instructors. If you respect students, you will pay the adjuncts, who are over 70% of the faculty, professional wages. Stop claiming these are market wages. You and other colleges control the market.
