I worked at Cuyahoga Community College full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I can't think of any. The reduced tuition isn't worth the abuse you take each day from insulting faculty and unhappy staff.

    Cons

Unfortunately, there is no one to speak to about issues because the top person in management is crooked and self-serving too. Very political. Nepotism. The most unprofessional group of supposedly intelligent people I've ever dealt with. There is so much backstabbing and lying that you can't trust anyone. Everyone is looking to reach the next level no matter who they step on. Low pay. HR is a joke. Problems are never resolved. Caring for students is lip service. Students don't want to deal with Student Service Depts because the staff is so rude.

    Advice to Management

Develop some integrity. Treat others the way you would want to be treated.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Cuyahoga Community College full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

They will lie to you for so long that you will believe them. They will have you so convinced that you won't realize you are destroying the careers of their targeted employees.
They help 10% of their students very well, but at the cost of the other students and taxpayers.

    Cons

Their slogan is "Where futures begin." which is true for about 3 to 4 thousand of their 50K+ students, but it should be "Where futures are damaged or destroyed" for their employees.

    Advice to Management

The house of cards can't last forever.

I have been working at Cuyahoga Community College part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I cant speak for full-time employees, but part-time adjunct professor is stress-free and you get free reign in your class-room for the most part, aside from hitting all of the learning objectives and curriculum targets.

There is little micromanaging in the mathematics department and I find that the adjunct professors generally get along and help if necessary.

    Cons

There is not a lot of direction if you are new to teaching.

The chair is unorganized with their thoughts and schedule, but still really nice

    Advice to Management

Get more organized and more help to the department chair. Organization makes everything flow better from start to finish.

I have been working at Cuyahoga Community College part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

People working there are kind and commited to what they do. It's a large organization with a lot going on. Job is low stress and you won't feel overworked. Might be ok part time job for someone who doesn't want stress or doesn't care about growth.

    Cons

Pay is low. No chance of a raise, promotion or more responsibilities. Everyone is treated the same regardless of years served. Work can get dry after awhile. No opportunity for growth.

    Advice to Management

Pay teachers and tutors more. Give them opportunities for growth. Spend less on decor and more on the people who make the company run.

Too bureaucratic to respond to individual concerns or areas of improvement that need to be addressed to improve work experience...

    Advice to Management
