I worked at Cymer full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good salary and work location. Smart people willing to share knowledge. Great intern program. Good community participation and support for local events.

    Cons

Executive management is rigid and disrespectful of others leading to an environment of mistrust. Company is too lean to support current workload resulting in long work hours for all.

    Advice to Management

I have been working at Cymer as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company really cares about developing talent internally. Once securing one intern position the company bent over backwards to find me two more successive positions to retain me. The company truly cares about work life balance it's not just lip service. Flexible working arrangements are not stifled and onsite foosball, yoga, bootcamp, ping pong and even beach volleyball and basketball are celebrated along with encouraging community outreach and good will.

    Cons

None to speak of except the commute to Rancho Bernardo from downtown each day isn't made any easier by the appealing state of traffic management on the 15/163.

I have been working at Cymer full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of resource for high priority projects. Very technically challenging work. Most people at the company are good to work with and have a sense of pride in their work.

    Cons

Large company with all the overhead that goes with it. Has become process driven even when process is broken. Management does give clear direction until it is too late to make large changes on projects.

I have been working at Cymer full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There are no pros to working at Cymer. Avoid it at all costs. Don't believe CEO Jim Koonmen when he talks about empowerment.

    Cons

I hear it was a good company a long time ago, but the former CEO hired his friends and family for jobs they aren't qualified for. He's gone now and his friends and family are still enjoying crazy salaries for doing nothing. They know ASML wants them gone so they're desperate to hang on as long as they can and many are willing to lie, cheat and steal to do it.

    Advice to Management

Stop talking about empowerment when you're blowing company money on people who are liabilities to ASML.

    Pros

There's only one pro the pay is pretty decent but remember money isn't everything

    Cons

One of the worst places to work in San Diego

    Advice to Management

It's too late you've already sold out the ASML

I worked at Cymer as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Great company to work for, very technical & young entrepreneurship vibe. Cymer sponsors many company events and fun outings, there are also employee appreciation events with free food for all employees.

    Cons

Some managers lack experience and put down employees. Tact & professionalism is vital here, also people get promoted based on their friendships with others in the company.
