I have been working at Cyngn full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Personal Background: Software Engineer, joined Cyngn around 1 year ago. Pros: - Promising business story & technical goals compared with most other startups that focus on Robo Taxi - Great opportunities to work at core techs in autonomous driving. You can learn from all the teams and modules if you want. It helps quickly become the "full-stack" (both software and hardware) master in Autonomous Driving industry,...

    Cons

    - keeping in stealth for a long time. It really made recruiting difficult. Well, it finally came out of stealth mode recently... - Well, I don't like too much health food for lunch at Cyngn, but anyway I lost weight in return... - The codebase can be more testable

I have been working at Cyngn full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Very interesting project - Meaningful tasks (not much bug-fixing and old code digging) - A lot of cool modern hardware, sensors, boards to play with - Great team - Plenty of free food and drinks - Unlimited vacation - No excessive overlook

    Cons

Office a bit small and dusty but company is about to move to better one

I have been working at Cyngn full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Despite being a startup, we've stayed super focused on our roadmap and plan for over a year! Hard to do this in any company. - Sufficient funding allows us to move quickly. - Company provides good equipment and tools to get the job done. - Good balance of pushing to hit aggressive deadlines, but not delude ourselves that we're on a long term mission. - Steady supply of espresso! ;-)

    Cons

    - We're definitely in a "startup office" location which can be fun and challenging at the same time. - Still in stealth mode so it's sometimes tricky what you can say and not say to candidates and partners.

    Advice to Management

    - Keep focusing on the plan, everyone joined to make this real. - Stay ahead of some of the growing pains as we scale the team, the company hasn't done a terrible job, but sometimes feels like we rush to catch up more than planning ahead for some things.

I worked at Cyngn for more than a year

    Pros

Your fellow engineers are typically pretty good, although a lot of the absolute best talent has left by now. The office space is nice, and they have decent perks. Work is flexible and you can do things like WFH, take long lunches etc... Your direct boss is probably a pretty cool person. Cyanogen's talent pool is still highly regarded by other Employers, and time spent here won't look bad on a resume.

    Cons

It's been run terribly up until now. I can't swear to the new CEO as I wasn't under him very long, but the previous one was a train wreck. Projects are typically high minded but low on the details needed to make them successful. Project management is the worst mixture of scrum-as-waterfall i've ever seen. This was improving slightly in that projects weren't being waterfall-ed quite as much (after the lay offs...

I have been working at Cyngn

    Pros

While this company use to have many pros going for it, the only one it was able to hold on to was the fact that they managed to bring a lot of good people together. Many a friendship was made and for that they were successful, but only that.

    Cons

Honestly this is going to be a long but considering this company is sinking fast there's not much to say other than don't even consider employment with Cyanogen, Inc. They don't trust their employees and lie through their teeth in an attempt to retain what few employees they had. The best way for an employee to find out what is going on in the company is to check the internet. They lacked any integrity when it came...

I worked at Cyngn full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Engineers are extremely fun with work with, except one or 1.5 ex. Many great ...(making up the min word count...)

    Cons

Quoting the CEOs post on Linkedin, the company is shutting down Seattle office, of where one of the founders resides. Originally an Android company, someone high up came in with another interest and completely wiped out the culture and pivoted directions a couple time. (This is non private info. You can find it in internet articles.) Closing down the Seattle office so as to consolidate engineering and improve communication...

    I worked at Cyngn full-time

    Pros

A lot of the people who used to work there are good.

    Cons

In April 2016, Cyanogen had about seventy people working there. In November 2016, they had forty -- half the company left, plus four or five hires. Everyone who isn't in upper management is working on finding another job. I saw a coworker almost cry when describing how a member of upper management treats them. They said that, every time they met with that person, they immediately went to HR after to record what...

    Advice to Management

Retire. Don't start any other businesses. Don't enter any other managerial positions. Management can't be trusted to run a popsicle stand, much less a software startup employing dozens of people.
