    Business Outlook

    Pros

The way they teach employees was incredibly, they really want you to be better.

    Cons

Every company has their goal, target and away to administrate themselves so even if want to say anything about them I can't really beside the salary the reality is that we will never be over pay but under pay instead and that is something that I understand.

    Pros

Good start for someone starting in the interpretation industry since they take newbie’s.

    Cons

Little to no good benefits, HR department needs personnel change. Too much work with little pay. Very stressful and demanding job.

Beware they look good but are not

Mar 11, 2023 - Interpreter in New York, NY
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Good benefits. The health insurance is very good.

    Cons

They do not prepare you for the intense 911 or hospital calls you receive it is very stressful. Though you work remotely you cannot get up to go to the bathroom without them writing you up. If you are sick and run out of sick time and you go to the ER they want you to mandatorily get a 5-day leave of absence from one doctor and that is not possible if you just went t one visit and were told to stay home the limit two days until you see your primary, so they go and write you up. They do not withhold federal taxes but do not explain it you do all regular paperwork and since so much is taken out for your insurance, Medicare and other things if you are not aware you wind up owing taxes. When they terminate you for being sick, they turn around and lie about you to unemployment.

Low rate of pay because hours are consistent

Feb 10, 2023 - Haitian Creole Interpreter in Tampa, FL
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Can work full-time and overtime in some cases. Everyday is something new. Work is consistent. Supervisors are helpful. Will accept and train you with zero professional experience. If you work 10 hours you can get 3 15-minute on-the-clock breaks

    Cons

$14/hr while other places offer at least $15. Your lunch is added onto your shift so if you work 10 hours, you be there for 10 hours 30 minutes. Recognition is minimal, close to nonexistent. Could provide the best service and your efforts aren’t recognized. No work from home option for a job you’re doing remotely anyway. Some languages are advertised with higher pay than others with a sign-on bonus that is nowhere to be found

    Overall positive experience

Jan 26, 2023 - Spanish Interpreter in Houston, TX
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Training was the most thorough I have seen in the industry. Two weeks in class training with one week training on the phones. Other companies will just give you the class training and then leave you to your own devices once you begin interpreting over the phone. Clean office. Relatively achievable goals. As long as you do not make mistakes on your calls you will receive good marks on your performance review. Very flexible schedules for people who might prefer to work on the weekends and have two days off during the week, or people who would prefer to work mornings some days and nights other days. Of course a normal M-F 9-5 schedule was also available.

    Cons

The hourly rate for Spanish interpreters when I started (2018) was 15.00 an hour. I am not sure what it would be now.

Spanish queue is always busy, pay could be better

Oct 7, 2022 - Interpreter in Houston, TX
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

I began working here at the start of the Covid pandemic, it was a remote position. They offer medical, dental, vision benefits as well as PST & PTO if you work full time. Your calls aren’t always monitored but a few of them will be randomly monitored throughout the month.

    Cons

There wasn’t a raise in 2020 when Covid was at its peak and the Spanish queue was always busy. It took over a year to get a raise. You’re basically stuck to your headset taking calls because your time on the clock gets monitored down to every second. You have to be mentally strong and ready to take ANY type of call. You can get a call about a family that just lost a loved one and the next one can be a 911 call about someone asking for help for a child who’s having a seizure or it can be a call for someone who wants to place an OTC catalog order. Most supervisors are helpful but communication with them is very limited because they’re not given much time to be on the phone with you if you have to talk about an issue. Most communication has to be done through email.

Great place to gain experience - Awful place to find mental peace

Feb 6, 2023 - Spanish Supervisor in Houston, TX
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Paid training, growing opportunities, learning opportunities, opportunity to meet people from multiple backgrounds, entirely immerse in diversity. This is the bootcamp for the language industry. If you survive a couple of years here, you will have gained an invaluable amount of experience that you will be able to apply anywhere else.

    Cons

Unrealistic goals, delegation of responsability from upper management, lack of accountability for employees, lack for human sympathy.

    Very Poor Pay

Feb 4, 2023 - OPI Spanish Interpreter in Las Cruces, NM
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

-Very willing to accommodate your schedule to whatever you may need, so long as your stats are good. -Your schedule won't change spontaneously in terms of days worked and hours selected.

    Cons

-Very poor pay, close to McDonald's wages; too little pay for the constant workload. -Company no longer offers bonuses and the maximum raise you can get is about $0.25 every 6 months but only if you have perfect attendance and 0 complaints in that time. -Back to back calls throughout the entire 8-10 hour shift, with 2-9 seconds in between each call. -Extremely high turnover for new supervisors; brand new supervisor every couple of months. -Incompetent, arrogant management; not willing to help you resolve important matters; constant run around without following through with a resolution.

    Micromanaged Robots

Dec 17, 2022 - OPI Spanish Interpreter in New York, NY
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

-The trainers are fun -Floor managers are helpful -Flexible PTO and Sick time -All the overtime your brain can handle

    Cons

-Poor Wages: Dunkin Donuts cashiers make more money than Cyracom Interpreters. -No time to breath between calls: You are a talking robot from the first second of your shift starting time until the last second of your shift end, really non-stop. -Breaks too short: Only two 15 minute breaks per day is not enough to overcome the emotional and mental trauma you experience after some 911 and hospital calls. -Micromanaged with metrics: Forget about a bonus or a yearly raise. Their metrics are so intense you will never get them.
