    Pros

Great starting pay. Amazing benefits. Constant improvements company wide. Coworkers work together as much as possible to tackle what ever problems may come up.

    Cons

Strongly focused on the bottom line. Huge divide between hourly and salary. Almost tangible separation between management and employees. Punishment based safety program. Knee jerk reactions whenever there is a violation/accident. Poor training programs.

    Pros

Great health insurance and good Co workers

    Cons

Everything in the plant is 50 years old management wants you to run with broke down junk! Management puts in 20% and they want you to put in 100% people quite or get fired all the time!

    Advice to Management

    Wake up!

I worked at DAK Americas full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Co workers are great and are willing to help in any way. The hours are great 7am to 3:30pm. The work is simple and rewarding in itself.

    Cons

Management is awful and unfortunately they honor the 'good old boy' system. You are not rewarded for continuous exceeding expectations but for always being in management's face sucking up. If you are always in the manager's face, then either someone else will have to complete your duties or you haven't been given your fair share.

    Advice to Management

Distribute raises, bonuses, promotions and any other incentive based on performance and not personal relationships. No college education but you hire a manager's son with 2 years experience over employees who have been there for 20 years. That is not good.

I have been working at DAK Americas full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Only two that I can name great health insurance and steady paycheck

    Cons

The shift sucks, training requirements are constantly changing (need this in order to get raises), company is very reactive, never plans ahead, supervisors and above only look out for their own best interest

    Advice to Management

Make a training plan and stick to it, follow the policies that DAK has in place

I have been working at DAK Americas full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits (insurance, 401K) are really good compared to area
Good teamwork and supportive environment below management levels
Opportunity exists for excellent bonus opportunities for salary, though much that goes into that is outside of your control

    Cons

    Work/life balance is non-existent
Very chauvinist atmosphere. Women (even in management roles) are expected to coordinate meals and clean up while men are NEVER provided this expectation. The few women in management roles are also heavily scrutinized compared to their male counterparts.
Everyone is treated as if he/she is immediately replaceable ("we can train your replacement within two weeks")
    There is no advancement structure
Drastic difference in treatment between salary and hourly employees in terms of bonus structure and sick time
    Extremely reactionary

    Advice to Management

    Appreciate your employees
Make an effort to even the playing field for men and women. Equal treatment on even the most basic things would make a big difference.
Define, communicate, and FOLLOW advancement structure

I worked at DAK Americas full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great coworkers to work with who work hard and are very friendly. Work was interesting at times. Learned some new technology and processes. Good stepping stone and place to get some experience then move on after a few years.

    Cons

Pay did not match Crazy schedule(rotating 12hr shifts) or skill set for operating very complicated machines and being responsible for key processes. No differential pay for working 12hr night shifts or weekends. Management constantly pushes for more quantity and quality with less time or money being spent on an outdated plant needing a major overhaul. Very little room to move up or even laterally from the QC Lab. Sometimes you are scheduled for mandatory training on your day(s) off after already working 3 or 4 12hr day/night shifts.

    Advice to Management

Invest in the employees and you will see a huge change in the morale and motivation for them to go the extra mile. Fix the equipment or buy new and don't push for quick results with broken or malfunctioning equipment. Company needs to adopt a work schedule other than rotating shifts because it severely takes away from personal life and family.

I have been working at DAK Americas full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Descent pay and benefits with those benefits beginning immediately on the date of employment. On site nurse and EMTs for emergency response.

    Cons

Excessive pressure place on most employees to meet unrealistic expectations. Huge difference in how bonuses are paid out between salaried and hourly employees.

    Advice to Management

Change bonus system; treat employees more like team members instead of treating them like they really don't need them.
