I have been working at DALSA full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The technology and the people (most) are amazing and great to work with. I enjoyed working here over the years.

    Cons

Most people who work here have been here for a long time. This can it very difficult to change or improve processes and to advance/grow. Some benefits are left to manager discretion and can be given or taken away based on your relationship with management. Compensation is not distributed based on hard work and performance but more on management's whim. Previous CEO cared about his employees, not so sure about the new one.

    Advice to Management

All of your employees matter and you should focus more on morale and growing their careers. You should compensate your hard working employees and reward them appropriately; not just the ones that make the most noise.

    I worked at DALSA full-time

    Pros

They have great technology & product base. Decent benefits (better than no benefits). Overall office environment was pleasant and collaborative (for the most part).

    Cons

Most employees have manned their posts for 10+ years, making official career growth nearly impossible. They will allow you to do the extra work but you will not be compensated for it. Poor middle-management practices are not corrected, resulting in low morale, productivity, and office bullying. Policies & benefits are left to manager discretion and can be given or taken away on a whim. Accomplishments often go unnoticed while mistakes and negative accountability are blown completely out of proportion and used as disciplinary measures to keep employees "in line".

    Advice to Management

Managers who humiliate their subordinates in front of their peers, executive management, and customers, should not be allowed to be managers anymore. Your employees should not require years of therapy because executive management continues to try fitting a circle through a square, rather than taking a different approach and actually resolving the problem. Benefits and office policies should be standardized for all employees. Empower your employees rather than discourage them.

I have been working at DALSA full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The only reason to work at DALSA is to get a paycheck. Not even a great paycheck, but a paycheck nonetheless. There is really nothing else to keep anyone from leaving.

    Cons

There is absolutely no morale and no incentives. After going through rounds and rounds of lay-offs under the supervision of the new VP, the employees left standing are left to take on the tasks of everyone that was laid off...with no bump in compensation. The only thing that anyone cares about anymore is making money for the share holders.

    Advice to Management

This company is as good as doomed if it keeps running the way it is and doesn't acknowledge or reward the hard work that their employees are doing.

I worked at DALSA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

9-5 job with no incentive to work more.

    Cons

old personnel and old school processes

old technologists are promoted into engineering and management roles, engineers are doing operators job == science and new way of doing stuff is ignored and blocked and your education is not valued here (if you do not believe me linkedin it)

driven by sales not innovation. Salesmen and marketing team is celebrated in this company.

I have been working at DALSA full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A lot of great people to work with, but a few not so great.
    Flexible hours (boss dependant, though)
    Interesting products

    Cons

    Mediocre to low pay.
    No product development standards
Some products seem to change direction on a weekly basis.
They seem to push products to production then look to how to fix it, rather than do it right the first time.
Projects are behind schedule even before you start.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. Actually listen and consider what they say. Oh, and start learning from your mistakes instead of making the same ones over and over again.

I have been working at DALSA (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Use to be a great place to work. BTW, Rex D. Geveden hasn't been CEO for quite awhile now.

    Cons

Use to be a great place to work, now it's nothing but worrying about layoffs every quarter. Another 7 people just last week due to missing (highly unreasonable) profit targets, even though we made lots of profit. Profit sharing was cancelled for 2015 and no doubt won't happen in 2016 either. Raises have been nothing but insulting over the last several years - they don't even match inflation.

    Advice to Management

Set reasonable, achievable targets so that people can keep their jobs and maybe even get a raise someday.

    Pros

Co-workers are great! Great team, like a big family.
A lot of special attention for employees (Summer BBQ, Yoga, gym membership contribution, etc)
    Great projects to work on.
    Flexible hours.

    Cons

Now that we are part of Teledyne (a big US based cie, decision are not as fast and sometimes, the American culture is not what we would like for us in Canada)

I worked at DALSA (More than a year)

    Pros

Ok technology, good people over all.

    Cons

The company is on a nose dive path, very disengaged employees, ad-hoc decisions at every level, your performance is not measured or rewarded properly. The management are trying to save their jobs. No training programs, no growth path for employees. Work there if you absolutely cannot find a better company to work for.

    Advice to Management

    Get help from outside.
