Exciting company, great people, wonderful leadership, creative freedom
Oct 12, 2022 - ManagerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
A really exciting company to work for. Endless opportunities to try new projects & initiatives, learn from experts and collaborate with the awesome internal team. A very welcoming atmosphere to new employees and plenty of opportunities to meet with the brilliant leadership team.
Cons
Can be slightly unorganized at times, but that is likely due to the immense employee growth!
Thank you for sharing your feedback, we're happy to hear you're having such a positive experience at DAT! Thanks for being a part of our amazing team!

I've been at DAT for about 3 months and its been a whirlwind! They are experiencing rapid growth and have been hiring like crazy to keep up with customer demand and claim marketshare. This can be chaotic at times, but the caliber of individuals they are bringing on is top-notch. Once the dust settles a bit and people get their bearings, watch out. If you want a place with a great culture, where you can make an impact quickly, where you will be challenged, pushed, and expected to grow your skillset, DAT could be a great fit. Some highlights: - Great company with a rock-solid foundation - Leader and well respected in the industry - Growth opportunities - Fantastic leadership that is open to new ideas and has a solid understanding of their customer base - Hybrid work schedule - Longer-term employees are very helpful to new hires - Autonomy, trust, and an overall "Let's make it happen" approach - Free Lunches! - Cool offices and overall great work environment - 401k matching - Stock purchase program (Parent Company)
Cons
Honestly some of what makes DAT great can also have downsides. The rapid growth of the company and influx of new employees can make the day-to-day chaotic at times. Really, this happens at any company that experiences this kind of growth. I'm certain this will work itself out in short order, I'm already seeing processes put in place that give me confidence.

Proceed with Caution

High growth company with a very large customer base and strong foothold in the industry. Free lunch if you go in the office. If you’re looking for somewhere to coast this is the place for you.
Cons
In the last 6 months it there have been a lot of business decisions made that have negatively impacted the customer base and the business as a whole. It doesn’t seem like any new implication of either their product or their internal system has done any good for their employees or customers and has negatively impacted the livelihoods of both segments. They’ve completely overhauled the product and released a demo that creates a negative new customer experience causing a dip in new customer acquisition at the same time raising their prices during a time where their customers were struggling to make ends meet causing an increase in cancellations and a decrease in new customer on boarding. They’ve also fired or let go each of their executives in the last year. DAT carries itself as the top software provider in the industry and has been for a long time. But just check the reviews on the App Store, DAT has gone from a 5 star company to two stars.

Pros
Free lunch when in office. Smart people!
Cons
Management lacks direction and ability to lead their teams effectively. Lack of process and product growth. Upper Management has a Bro mentality and unless your in their good graces dont plan on moving up with the company. DAT has no real culture even though they are quick to say they have one, but unfortunately its diminished by upper management. People dont leave companies because of the work, they leave due to their managers which is a huge problem here. There is reviews that are all written by HR and Management to increase their score. They are false and misleading statements. Beware of what your getting into with DAT. They lack diversity and employee growth which is in other reviews. If your talented and smart your better than DAT.

Look elsewhere

My team, a dedicated group of loyal employees, despite the company not rewarding and valuing them appropriately. Very dedicated and smart employees on all teams. There is opportunity to move around within the company into different roles and departments.
Cons
-20 people recently laid off with no warning and zero explanation. "Restructuring" doesn't really cut it when it appears that there is an effort to rehire for those same positions. -Lack of respect or acknowledgement of people who have been loyal to the company. Poorly compensated for the jobs they are doing, solely because they have been loyal and stayed with the company. - Insufficient increases and bonuses and no defined bonus structure - Lack of good onboarding when new employees start work (although that is being worked on) - Seems to be a clear plan to move most jobs to the Denver office (and changes have been made to LinkedIn profile, etc. that says there are co-headquarters now) as the CEO lives there and is building out additional space to accommodate growth - Wishy washy policy/response to remote working and mixed signals on what is expected of current employees, while advertising and hiring remote positions

Nice office space, free lunches when you are on site.
Cons
I was hired, and the hiring process was delayed so I started way later than I initially was suppose to. At first, I was told it was because of a role that needed to be approved by senior leaders and then a few days later it was due to a system issue.. I started there and tested positive for COVID, and I was fired for missing work even with a doctors note provided. When I spoke with my manager, she had advised me that it wouldn’t affect me and that it would just have to be unpaid. The training process was also all over the place. I did not feel like I was given or walked through proper policies when I initially started the job. I had a new hire orientation after one month of being there instead of in the beginning like most companies do. After a few days, and listening to a mock call we were thrown to the wolves on the phone. Coming into it without any industry knowledge just felt a little bit overwhelming to just put someone on the phone that quickly. There was no real structure I felt within the training process. Circling back to being fired, I felt like the manager was rude. She didn’t offer any like exit interview or anything. Just overall a bad experience and would not recommend DAT. Pay is low for the work.

Good Benefits. But it is difficult workplace and layoffs happen semi-often.
Apr 28, 2022 - Product Development Engineer IIRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Good benefits and free lunches every Tuesday and Thursday with food trucks. But since the pandemic, they offer free meals everyday with a catering service at the office. - Great compensation with good PTO compensation. - They utilize modern technologies and cloud so if you are looking to work in that space this can be a potential place.
Cons
- It is hard to move up in the company when you are a mid level engineer. So if you are starting out as a Software Engineer expect to go no higher than a Mid-Level here. - Its a grindfest to get things done and to appease your manager. - Management is usually out of touch with what you are doing and you're accomplishments because they are stretched thin managing many teams. - The process there is way to product management focused where product dictates estimates without much Engineering input. So expect reactionary things happen from product when your team does not meet those estimates. - Expect cuts and layoffs to happen every once in awhile.

Pros
DAT challenges me to bring my best self every day and has been an incredible growth opportunity. The Denver office is world class. Free lunch, free covered parking are all nice, but the best benefit is the people you get to work with.
Cons
Work is fast paced and challenging. If you are looking for guardrails, this might not be for you.
