      Pros

Good benefits, great people to work with, management at department level was the best I ever had.

      Cons

Upper management implementing a divide and conquer regime at the end of my time there.

      Pros

Paychecks are fat because you live there. That is all.

      Cons

Holy moly where to start. Don’t expect to go home and stay home. Communication is the worst I have ever seen. The benefits are overpriced for underwhelming coverage. They claim “best training” but someone will die from lack of training. Supposed to be 2-2-3 more like 6 days a week with one day off 12 hour shifts. Managers are so overworked they can’t handle SEVERE problems on the floor until a forklift has rolled over. The turnover rate is so horrible they don’t tell you; seriously if I had to guess somewhere around 70-80%. They are rammed by proctor and gamble and take it out on their employees. There is no maternity leave for men. The 401k is up to 5%. That’s it for retirement. The ones who are rewarded are the ones who cheat, and sit around all day behind a desk. You are forced to meet their expectations or you WILL be terminated at the bare minimum of being treated like an outcast. People do not care about safety nor is safety enforced and kept up with in anyway shape or form. Not once, while I was there for five months, did we ever have a safety briefing. Equipment is not kept up with, nor is there the ability to keep up with equipment. Constant broken lifts, and computer problems. The warehouse system they use is utterly broken and will spit in your face after every single working day; and the only way to get around it is to break rules. Upper management is completely unreachable, including HR. I brought up issues with a medical condition I have and had to wait three days before I was able to even speak with an HR rep. The entire warehouse is being converted to automation, people WILL loose their jobs with no chance to change positions. You can’t move 200 people to a new department without causing catastrophic problems else where. Older people are not welcomed as most do not fit their production demands. Employees are searched regularly even under the slightest suspicion. But please, heed my warning. STAY AWAY. Unless you feel the need to give your literal life and soul to this operation, you will do better at a fast food restaurant.

      Pros

Good benefits, there are lots of inhuman people

      Cons

The most miserable work experience in over 25 years in the workforce! Several co-workers are rude and non-cooperative. Zero support from upper management!

      Worst Company Ever!!!!

      Pros

General employees are absolutely wonderful despite the conditions.

      Cons

No training whatsoever, upper management is not on same page with each other lack of direction, Windows 2000 operating system, DOS based shipment program. You cannot sit at your desk for 8 hours working with people 2 feet from you and completely ignore them. At the slightest hint of a personal conversation you were swooped down upon and asked if you needed more work. You are nothing but a body plugging out shipments. You never knew on a weekly basis if you were going to get out at your normal time. If shipments came in minutes before you were supposed to leave, you had to stay and process them and then turn around and receive permission for overtime. Employees are stressed, frustrated and overloaded. File count goes towards everyone in your department so if 10 people are in the department and only 4 people process shipments on a daily basis, those 4 people have to meet the file status required by that whole department. Idiotic and impossible. structure. 10 minutes to open a spreadsheet is insane. The tools you are giving to do your job are antiquated and do not work. There is not IT department, you have to call and have someone fix your computer remotely. Hours a week wasted on this. This is absolutely the worst company I have ever worked for in my life. Employees are miserable and most are looking for employment elsewhere.

Typical big corporation -- it's all about $$$

      Pros

For the name sake and reputation, it's a solid company to add to your resume.

      Cons

Tons of cons. Management is terrible. There's no support from management. It's all about get things done. Be Robotic. Not really caring about the people who help the company progress. No Organization. No room for Career Growth. You'll be stuck in the same position for years. This company does not offer much to their employees. A lot of butt kissing and even then you'll go nowhere because upper management just wants to use people. Management does not train people accordingly or have the organization or "time" to ensure training is necessary. If you make ONE mistake and it's costly, it's like you've hung yourself with them. The spirit of micromanaging should be the Alma Mater for this location. The ORD station is not a good place to retire or a great career move. IF you do work at this location it's probably best you use it as a stepping stone and find a much better company offering much more incentives and benefits to their employees. Trust me Schenker is not the best company. Period.
