I worked at DC Water full-time for more than 6 years

      Pros

It is doing cutting edge work in wastewater treatment.

      Cons

The corporate cultured is highly siloed. There are departments which lack the tools to operate in the 21st century. The view is that all is good as focus is on the advanced work undertaken by Engineering. Support department are bureaucratic, run by an old boy network that is reluctant to change or modernize, although lip service is given to modernization.

      Advice to Management

Promote corporate turnover bring in new minds, there is no reason to stay on the organization for ten years or more. Fresh air is required.

I worked at DC Water full-time for more than 9 years

      Pros

Pays very well... I would put them up against any utility, government agency or private industry company, but that's where it stops. Don't go there if you don't have to! They'll break your heart and bank account!

      Cons

Management sucks! Union driven and they suck too! However, now under new leadership, but its going to take awhile for the mess to be worked out and or cleaned out!

      Advice to Management

Please, rid yourself of the favorites, pet-paves, cliques and the old boy networks! you don't rule with an iron-fist, from the Ivory-Tower! It doesn't work!
