I worked at DFC Global full-time

    Pros

A lot of hard working decent people exist in the company. There's also tremendous willingness to do the right thing, and I believe (and witnessed) examples of that again & again. People can be helpful, accommodating & the sense of camaraderie is somewhat apparent. It could be described as a 'pleasant' place to work.

    Cons

Its easy to criticize the minutiae of any business without knowing all the facts, so I won't do that here. What I did see in my time was fighting of upper management behind closed doors, extreme politics whereby the old-guard defended heavily their well paid (overpaid) roles whist pushing sub-ordinates under buses on a regular occasion. Poorly performing staff were often promoted above themselves and a general sense of fear existed in the company of speaking up through fear of upsetting someone & having your 'cards marked'. There's a lot of politics (which you'd expect in any company) but its overwhelming, overbearing & very difficult to manage here.

    Advice to Management

You're probably doing all you can, but the business seems trapped in heavy regulation and unable to do anything one way or another. During periods of choppy waters your staff are drowning and you're failing to protect the health & well-being of so many good people who could contribute to your company in a manner you need to survive. I've personally watched at least two highly talented people go, and it's just a shame. You'd be best to have some people who actually are empowered to do something, for the benefit of the people who work for the company.
