This agency is all about company culture, doing good, and not being traditional. They really strive to think out of the box to expand their client's work. It really is a great place to learn, be challenged, and to grow.

It really is a great place to work.

I have been working at DGWB full-time

    Pros

Good work/life balance, everyone is super nice, lots of pot-lucks and events.

    Cons

A very traditional agency that runs on print collateral or a rare t.v. commercial. Digital is non existent or limited to thirty different sizes of the same banner ad.

    Advice to Management

Put in place programs that allow your junior level teams to grow - both at the skill & industry level.

I worked at DGWB (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Agency is run by three partners that are all very involved and passionate about the business. They treat their employees well and keep them informed on the state of the business.

    Cons

It can be easy to get lost or not noticed if you are not outgoing and pro-active. If you want a promotion you need to work as if you already have it.

    Advice to Management

Promote talent from within. Diversify client roster and continue to move smart people around so they have an opportunity to grow and learn different part of business and/or industry.

    Pros

Company is small enough that you can explore different jobs within the agency. Everyone is very friendly and they have a decent client-base.

    Cons

They pay below industry average because they have a good reputation. Also, anyone who is not part of the senior clic is highly dispensible.

    Advice to Management

    Better wages would be nice.

Great place to get started, and great work culture. Fun people.

    Advice to Management

    INVEST IN YOUR STAFF.

I worked at DGWB full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

DGWB is a wonderful agency with a great culture. There is always work flowing in and the people there are fantastic to work with. Clients will be clients, but the work can oftentimes be rewarding - DGWB has taken home quite a few Addy awards!

Some of the leadership is really great. The CEO, Mike, is such a good person and truly cares about the well-being of all of his employees. Also, depending on who your direct supervisor is, some of the supervisors act more as mentors and want to see you grow, both professionally and personally. I was lucky to work with a supervisor who actually supported my decision to leave in order to advance my career.

DGWB is smart in that they hire amazing employees. The partners know their culture, and they make sure to hire for that culture. You'll notice that people at DGWB aren't just coworkers; they're genuine friends, too.

Overall, this is a great place to start a career in advertising.

General perks: early Fridays (last Friday of the month we would get out at 2 PM), kegerator, nice benefits package, accrued vacation/sick time

    Cons

After working there for a while, you may eventually hit a wall in which you realize you can't grow anymore. There are some employees there who have been there for 15+ years and clearly have no intention to leave, which is great for them but difficult for the lesser experienced employees who have no further opportunities to advance their careers.

DGWB has gotten into a niche type of advertising, one that doesn't include much digital work and one that is very much focused on QSR and healthcare clients. Stay too long and you may become siloed.

Processes here are a bit absent - one type of advertising medium is managed one way, and another medium is managed completely differently.

I also got to a point where I actually felt guilty leaving at a regular hour (6:30 PM), because it seemed to be culturally unacceptable to work a regular 8-hour day. Seemed as if everyone expected you to stay late, because the later you stayed meant the harder you worked?

    Advice to Management

Give promotions when they're deserved, and expand your repertoire - don't be afraid to present some wild and innovative ideas to current and potential clients.

    Pros

Work life balance is good and the team environment is great. Welcoming people and fun place to work.

    Cons

    Salary was below industry standards.

    Advice to Management

Increase pay for junior level employees to keep good talent from leaving for competitor agencies.
