DHG is a great place to work! Overall, DHG provides a positive and innovative work environment with wonderful people. Everyone is always willing to help when needed and work together. DHG cares about their employees and providing great client service. While working at DHG, I have seen the firm continually grow. This is very important when it comes to new opportunities, especially for Risk Advisory. It is exciting to...

      Cons

Sometimes late communication to others about projects.

      Advice to Management

Continue to grow communication efforts overall, including projects in the pipeline. Otherwise, keep up the great work! The new benefits are helpful.

I have been working at DHG full-time for more than a year

      Pros

DHG is a very employee focused company that cares about helping you advance your career while providing outstanding customer service to clients. They provide excellent work/life balance and the management is always willing to help you on your career journey. From the day I started, I could tell the team and company was much more personable versus other larger companies where I was just another employee. DHG has also...

      Cons

I wouldn't necessarily call this a con, but the work can be fast paced at times which isn't for everyone. Some may prefer a slower paced, monotonous work environment.

I worked at DHG full-time for more than 4 years

      Pros

I learned a lot of technical skills at DHG. Most of my supervisors were pretty laid back. The CIO is kind of uptight. It must be that he has a lot of stress due to the partners always breathing down his back, nevertheless, he could have been more of an advocate for the technology staff instead of always chasing the laser light that the partners use to keep him spinning. Most of the experienced guys there when I arrived...

      Cons

One of my supervisors was "micro-manager of the year" during the time I was at DHG. We lost a lot of very capable IT engineers due to micro-management in the IT Department.

      Advice to Management

Get some new blood in your top and mid-level management structure. Put people in charge who actually CARE about people and not just how profitable your bottom line appears!

I have been working at DHG full-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

Other employees and partners of the firm care about each other and there is a team atmosphere where people are willing to help each other. There is flexibility on the job and everyone is easy to work with. The travel is not as bad as at other firms.

      Cons

There is still some out of town work. There is a lot of work to do during the typical audit busy season.

      Advice to Management

Management is good at creating a positive culture and atmosphere, but sometimes it seems like the compensation is not the same as at bigger firms.

I worked at DHG full-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

Some great managers / partners, willing to help you grow in your career. Excellent internal training programs.

      Cons

Some of the partners/managers are intolerable. The firm is trying very hard to become a regional mirror of the big 4 model, which is undesirable to some employees. There is an up-or-out mentality, and a large push for business development, which did not sit well with many staff who felt uncomfortable managing others, or selling services. Typical realization vs. utilization struggles - even outside of busy season...

      Advice to Management

Big-4 salaries should accompany Big-4 pressure / responsibilities. If DHG truly wants to be regional, they will need to evaluate the business model for each region. What works in Charlotte, NC is unlikely to work in Roanoke, VA.

I have been working at DHG

        Pros

Nice people, patient managers and employees are always willing to help

        Cons

Don't cover a huge breadth of areas, so you can get pigeon holed.
