I have been working at DHL Express full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Growing business with the increasing demand for door to door delivery.

    Cons

In order to make deliveries, most operation hours are at night time. As well as requiring to work on most holidays and weekends.

    Advice to Management

Company spend a great amount of budget towards it's employees, trying to promote fun and engaging "INCENTIVES" for working with the company whether you are unionized or not. However there's seem to be a oversight when it comes to the upper management that comes announcing the "INCENTIVES", as the middle class team goes and promotes the incentives they are often NOT given same incentives, This can be very discouraging to the team that's suppose to be the backbone of the team's morale as they are their leaders
It is contradicting when upper management often roll out and seek feedbacks from the team on how to keep employees motivated. Because when someone responses for those feedback is often replied with the idea of "you have your year end bonuses, that's how you get your incentives, yet is hard to keep everyone happy".

I have been working at DHL Express full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent tuition reimbursement program. Opportunities to move up quickly if you are talented enough.

    Cons

Senior manager should practice what he preaches. 1 in particular. The company has great policies and procedures. Unfortunately, it is highly preached and expected when dealing with subordinates but is not being reciprocated by this one guy. Overall companies are usually very good. People usual mess that up.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. A Strong team with few weak links.

    Pros

Pay, sick time/vacation time was very good

    Cons

Most managers and above did not care about personal time. It was all about moving freight. Sunday's are a special day to most but not to the management team

    Advice to Management

Be realistic. All employees have families outside of work. When it comes time to seperate be honest with the employees file. The false information you place in the file might impact the possibility of obtaining employment. IE not eligible for rehire if you attempt to give adequate (two weeks) time before resigning.

I worked at DHL Express (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Worked with a lot of wonderful people. Many long-term goals to promote growth within.

    Cons

The union got in the way too much on how to work with the employees. Upper management in San Francisco did not understand the needs of our local facility. Worked way too many uncompensated hours as a salaries supervisor. Too many subcontractors made it challenging to have a good control of the operation.

Opportunities Galore. Work hard and show your ability and you will be seen and given a chance to move forward in your career.

    Cons

Varying shifts can be a pluse compared to the monotony of some other jobs.

    Advice to Management

Don't be afraid to hold middle managers to a high level of performance.

I have been working at DHL Express full-time

    Pros

Good company with a lot of options for moving around into different positions, and the company has jobs worldwide.

    Cons

The work life balance at DHL is not optimal in my opinion. Mandatory overtime is implemented almost daily, and most of the people work on average between 10-13 hours a day at the gateway locations. Management works around the clock, which is not very healthy.

I worked at DHL Express as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

    Challenging, fast paced environment.

    Cons

Outsourcing delivery service to 3PL companies.

    Advice to Management

Hubs need to contain management that can see "big picture" for their stations. Get rid of the politics, especially with the 3PL providers.
