I have been working at DICK'S Sporting Goods full-time

    Pros

Hours are extremely flexible, for the most part stores are laid back, dress code is major plus, and company seems to care about employees.

    Cons

really strict tardy policy...there is no grace period which kind of sucks especially dealing with Atlanta traffic and compensation for work could be a bit higher for Department leads!

I worked at DICK'S Sporting Goods part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible hours, good pay. The people were cool and we made joked a lot about the work environment. Store manager was funny and laid back. But could talk too much on the radio. Good to work if you have nothing else.

    Cons

Apparel department work too hard have to run 15 rails of clothes a week. Get fitting rooms, help cashiers and help customers. Management expects you to be responsible for all 3 floor of apparel in the building. Ridiculous. Too much product. People stole out of the store a lot, including associates who were eventually fired. Extremely HIGH turnover rate. People are constantly being fired and hired every other week. No one wants to work there. They don't train you properly, so you are left to babysit the new people. Customers are ok sometimes you get some really rude ones in Buckhead.

When management changed it got worse! Horrible incompetent assistant managers. One was hired from the basement and didn't know anything! Instead flirted with all the girl associates that gave him a smile.

    Advice to Management

Do your job stop hiding. Act like you care and stop playing favorites.

I worked at DICK'S Sporting Goods part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay for part-time, and if you work long/hard enough they'll offer a full-time position. The manager over my department was amazing always willing to help.

    Cons

Former store manager played favorites way too often, and only cared about certain sections of the store when the regional manager visited
My section was never fully staffed.
If you worked in team sports or apparel you would be a cashier for half of your shift.
My department lead was basically useless.

I did my job so well I got to do other people's jobs.

    Advice to Management

Invest in good employees and they'll be willing to stay.

    I worked at DICK'S Sporting Goods part-time

    Pros

Employee Discount varies by store, food for working long hours depending on shifts

    Cons

Department you are hired to will not be the only one you learn. You will be responsible for learning almost all positions, so you can work more departments without having to be paid more. If you are taught how to work cash register beware you will have added pressure to perform or fired quickly. By performing sign up customers for credit cards.

    Advice to Management

    Ease up on the micromanagement
