I have been working at DICK'S Sporting Goods part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Hours are very flexible
Managers are approachable and easy to talk to, always willing to answer any question
Easy to get time off when needed, even at the last minute (like for a last minute doctor's appointment)
    Relaxed environment
Not overly demanding when it comes to pushing the rewards card (just a simple mention of it is plenty)

    Cons

A bit more training could help
A new walkie system could definitely help
Computers can be very slow at times, which doesn't help when helping customers with online orders

    Advice to Management

Invest in more training, new walkies, and new computers. All three would go a long way.

I have been working at DICK'S Sporting Goods full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I'm within my first 6 months and the organization is going through some exciting changes and really embracing transformation starting at the top. I think the trajectory of the company is really positive and the change/transformation will be a key to the future success.

The leaders are very down -to-earth and welcoming. If you played in team sports at some point in your life, you will naturally know how to operate in this culture. They are very team focused and competitive. If you show commitment to the company they will quickly embrace you as one of their own.

    Cons

With any significant change, some people aren't going to be happy with it. This creates some discomfort but I think its a natural part of change.

    Advice to Management

Continue to be courageous and embrace the change!

I have been working at DICK'S Sporting Goods part-time

    Pros

For the most part it's an easy retail job. If you work hard there is plenty of opportunity to move into full time positions. Majority of the managers and employees are good people. Fair pay for retail.

    Cons

Sometimes coworkers can be lazy if they don't care about being there, makes your job harder. The occasional upset customer, easy to deal with if you are patient and understanding.

    Advice to Management

Cutting hours to save a few bucks means fewer employees have to do more, this equals less customer service and dirtier stores.

I worked at DICK'S Sporting Goods part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The employees I worked alongside seemed to genuinely care about doing a good job. The store was kept clean and we were all willing to help our customers. Corporate management never made any decisions that really hindered or bothered me, and instead had promotions that were always effective.

    Cons

Work can get very repetitive. As a cashier there's no end goal so there's no real satisfaction to finishing a day's work. Pay was minimal.
