I have been working at DICK'S Sporting Goods full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Overall very good work life balance and great opportunities for advancement.

    Cons

Company has a tendency to be reactive with staffing instead of proactive. Creates an environment which doesn't always give associates the support they need to be developed and supported correctly.

    Advice to Management

Quality of life and appreciation shown to associates is very good here. Great advancement opportunity if you put in the work to earn it. Planning and execution of an effective game plan is something that could be improved upon. At times the leadership team is spread very thin which results in associates not being able to be developed and supported as they should. The company has seen rapid growth in the past year which has highlighted this and caused some associates to feel that they are not being given the tools they need to be successful at their jobs or are not a priority at times.

I have been working at DICK'S Sporting Goods full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, good salary. Most stores have a low turnover so you will work with the same people for a number of years.

    Cons

Lot of hours during holiday. Upper management doesn't listen to associates as to what happens on a daily basis. Slow to react to current trends

    Advice to Management

Show employees you care. Listen to them, they know what happens in the stores, they see it daily

I have been working at DICK'S Sporting Goods part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working around like-minded people. The environment in the retail store is relatively easy going.

    Cons

Seems to be a disconnect between corporate expectations and the actual experience that customers get inside a retail store. Some expectations that corporate provide are not necessarily reasonable.
