I have been working at DICK'S Sporting Goods part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I enjoy my management, my associates and the work I do. Flexible work hours and room to grow. My
Position is independent but I do get to help other areas of the store.

    Cons

Hours are based of seasonal need. Responsibility to put onto people who don’t need it. When one area fails the management makes you feel like it’s everyone’s fault for one persons mistake when that’s not the case.

    Advice to Management

Provide more associates benefits and room to grow.

I have been working at DICK'S Sporting Goods part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Low impact as long as you aren't pushing freight out. Even if you aren't a "sports freak" you are welcomed with open arms. Good culture among associates.

    Cons

Scheduling is never consistent enough and causes confusion among employees. Sometimes managers don't know how to advise employees in tough situations, also causing confusion and unnecessary problems.

    Advice to Management

More in the field training rather than online. Maybe for the first week of employment just have new-hires shadow a consistently well regarded employee.

Retail is not for everyone, some customers are not always pleasant and management is not always where they need to be.
