I worked at DISH full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Training and development is far superior compared to almost any company I've ever worked for. Upper management is more than willing to help you in your time of need.

    Cons

Don't let anyone sell you a pipe dream. This job is a lot of work with technical blended in, hot in the attics and the metrics don't always work in your favor. Sell, Sell, Sell... or get the hatchet.

    Advice to Management

Fortunately, I had great FSM's while employed with this company. If they said they would do it you could count on it. These guys did not sell me the company dream, they sold me on myself. This is something I will carry with me the rest of my life. Oscar Gutierez (Angleton Office) Martin Lehman (Oak Ridge North).

I worked at DISH full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Met some good people and you get discounted accessories and service.

    Cons

Medical insurance is too high. Management doesn't show gratitude of acknowledgement for the work you do to keep the company running unless you in corporate. Over worked and under paid. Not enough man power to do the job but expect everything to be done within a restrictive time and reprimanded if you don't. The company is going downhill. They are a satellite company and have had to resort to fixing phone screens and repairing washing machines. if you have a family and or you want a life outside of the job don’t waste your time.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees the way you want them to treat you because if you don't you going to lose them. Be considerate and raise the pay the price of living is higher than it was and that's just in the past year.

    Pros

    steady income, good co workers

    Cons

management is a mess, no one is on the same page, lots of discrimination, Voted #1 worst place to work in America 2 years in a row, and boy did they live up to that name. you only get promoted if management knows you, or really likes you.

    Advice to Management

learn to be a real manager, treat people like respect, and like they are ACTUAL people.

I worked at DISH full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I had a great team, and a good team mentality with the training department. Overtime availability was nice for individuals who wanted it.

    Cons

Management was a bit of a mess at the location I worked at. There was too much loose interpretation of policies instead of giving the actual information. Mandatory over time occasionally occurred last minute.

    Advice to Management

Make sure all of management has the same understanding of policies.

I worked at DISH full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good pay, decent bonuses, Paid time off including, paid holidays, discounted tv service, and thats really all the pros i can think of

    Cons

Long hours, scheduling was crazy (one month you would work Wed-Sat and the next Fri-Mon), sometimes. Very sales oriented now (had to sell a minimum of $16 per customer) Metrics were almost impossible to hit and are designed to work against you (if you hit you metrics at the almost unobtainable, that's when you got a bonus) Micromanagement all the way up 4 levels in management. This past week Dish had one of the biggest mass firings in the company within the installation department. I was one of them. Me and 2 others in my office had been with the company for more than 8 years. We were considered expendable. This happened around the country at other office locations as well. Goes to show Dish doesn't really care for its techs.

    Advice to Management

Rethink how you treat you technicians. They are the face of Dish, they go to customers houses. You wonder why Dish is rated among the worst companies to work for, employee morale is low because expectations are set to a standard that only 1% of technicians can obtain. Dish was once a company I took pride in working for but all that changed when it became a metric and sales oriented company.

I worked at DISH full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay and benefits, great if you like working with little oversight most of the time

    Cons

Fired people too frequently(was on my third field service manager before I was terminated), poor metric system for judging performance, training insufficient

    Advice to Management

Rethink pi metric system, most people have just learned to cut corners and cheat it. More training for new people
