I have been working at DISH full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I like working with real products and having a tangible impact on customers.

    Cons

The experience working at DISH varies significantly based on who your manager is. If you have a good manager, you can thrive. If you have a bad manager, you'll have a very poor experience at DISH in general. DISH's HR department is horrible. This is why the quality of your manager matters so much.

I have been working at DISH full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Dish puts a lot of effort into finding the right individuals that fit their culture. They have room for growth and provide learning opportunities along the way. They don't shy away from hiring less experienced people that process certain traits.

    Cons

The only negative feedback I could give is that their hiring process is too long. I interviewed (phone and in person) with 7 people- that being said it was mostly to ensure that I was the right for the team.

I have been working at DISH full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of room for growth if you want it badly enough. Decent benefits and vacation time. Great place to learn and refine your leadership skills.

    Cons

Inconsistent schedules. Lots of office politics. The job itself can sometimes become repetitive and monotonous. Company culture a little conservative. Could use a little work.

    Advice to Management

Management always does a great job. Working very closely to agents and coaches. They always check on the welfare of their employees. My only advice is keep it up!

I have been working at DISH full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Better-than-industry pay at their Utah location, interesting and exciting work (Sling TV), that's about it.

    Cons

Terrible benefits for a "technology" company; executive attitude of "fall in line or get out"; poor communication of vision between CEO/Chairman and development teams; mid-level executives care more about their turf wars than they do about their employees.

I have been working at DISH full-time

    Pros

The incentives the company provides include laptops, Apple products, and other prizes. You can qualify for bonus pay easily and there is always some kind of party going on.

    Cons

It can be difficult to be noticed for your work in a building with that many people working alongside you.

    Advice to Management

Be more active in cultivating your representatives.

I have been working at DISH full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The best part of DISH is that the company provides numerous opportunities for employees who are creative and eager to work hard to get ahead. This is partly because our culture rewards people who take ownership and risks to try new things, and partly because we do have high turnover in certain areas. If you're looking for a cushy corporate job with a nice expense account and great benefits, this isn't it (no doubt part of the turnover issue). If you're looking for a place where you can grow your career faster and try more interesting and innovative things than anywhere else, DISH could be a great fit for you.

    Cons

Unfortunately, the company is still rooted in something of a command-and-control mentality when it comes to things like monitoring employee's time and not being able to work from home. For some people, this feels like a lack of trust and forward-thinking from senior leaders. I see their point, but also feel like the restraints are part of the cost we pay to be given exceptional trust in other areas, like how we develop our careers.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of core hours, not because people don't want to work that time, but because it communicates a lack of trust and care for employees.
