I have been working at DISH full-time

    Pros

    Improving work-life balance
    Decent pay
    Good people to work with
Actual real opportunity to move up quickly

    Cons

Upper management still doesn't get it sometimes
    Terrible, terrible, terrible benefits

    Advice to Management

Stop touting how great we have it here and make it a better place to work with real steps. Allowing jeans is a good first step, and some of the execs seem to "get it," but would it be asking too much to replace the disgusting rugs?

I have been working at DISH full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great pay have gotten 3 raises in the year and a half I have been there. Great management at my office they care about their techs and want them to succeed. Everything is supplied for you and great uniforms and accessories are offered. 401k and profit sharing. Paid time off days and 4 days work weeks. Tuition reimbursement and you almost pay nothing for tv services and you get paid to install your own services. Good training. I've read a lot of reviews about dish and I have not found any to be true except for the high deductible insurance and the metrics system needs improvement. Plus they do push sells a lot but I was told when they interviewed me that it was a sales job and what was expected from me. I've err worked for direc tv, Comcast, and charter and dish has by far been the best and I've been in the cable, satellite business for almost 18 years now.

    Cons

High deductible health insurance and metrics system needs improvement. Attendance policy is very strict. You get a lot of wrong work orders and sometimes equipment doesn't want to download or work.

    Advice to Management

Change the metrics system remove hip12 and make drive time be on non productive time so techs aren't flying trying to get to jobs so they can keep their pph up.

I have been working at DISH full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good base pay, okay benefits, award points and commission are a good idea on paper.

    Cons

Forced to work longer shifts than advertised, have worked 14, 15 and 16 hour shifts regularly.

    Advice to Management

Let the techs go home when they reach their hours.

I have been working at DISH full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I've honestly dealt with a great team during my time here. Bosses make your experience and mine has been with the company a long time that he is one of the most knowledgeable people in our department.

    Cons

Sometimes you have to jump through too many hoops to get anything you need to do your job. Just seems the company is too devided and not looking to a common goal because of certain policies.

    Advice to Management

I haven't had any issues with our management. They provide great feedback in my opinion.

I have been working at DISH full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    * Opportunities abound for technical jobs - engineering, IT, product, QA.
    * Company has formally (and publicly) stated new direction with road map towards future IoT endeavors.
    * Management is very transparent about their goals and objectives and offer frequent updates through all team meetings and other communications.
    * No layoffs to date despite the obvious decline in paid TV subscriptions, but this is endemic of the industry at large.

    Cons

    * Still a ways to go to shed negative legacy regarding employee trust, this primarily in the way agent call centers handled resources.
    * Short on holidays and barely above avg. in benefits.

    Advice to Management

Continue to work on your people skills since in today's environment, employees are not retained by telling them to work hard and if they don't like it, leave. You'll end up with sub-par talent and in no way will you have the best team as you strive to. To be fair, I believe management has for the most part "gotten the message" and are working to improve the company's image and make it a great place to work.

I have been working at DISH full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of opportunity to work hard for less pay and benefits. Something the executive management prides itself on explaining every chance they get. Not everyone is cut out to be a DISH employee.

    Cons

Travel - all out of pocket except for airfare. Expected to travel during personal hours. Up to two weeks for reimbursement. No company credit cards, low per meal allowable expense limits, mediocre hotels. 4 or more traveling together - be prepared to share a room with someone.

Insurance - $5k out of pocket before benefits kick in, then 30% until max OOP

Hours micromanaged via "badge report", even for salaried employees.

Performance review results are massaged by executive management, with minimal correlation to actual job performance or salary adjustments.
HR shrugs and says "That's the way it is."

    Advice to Management

Watch out if Amazon comes to town. It'll make the current 40+% annual attrition rate seem trivial.
