I worked at DISH full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decent hours, shifts, pay (for the area anyway), and lower-level peers

    Cons

Terrible commute (lived over an hour away in the largest city in my area, call center in a different, smaller city), upper management is far too harsh, apathetic, and just unforgiving all around. No support for customer abuse toward employees.

    Advice to Management

Don't ding reps for doing their best and trying to deal with abusive customers on the phone, while at the same time blowing up their supervisor's IM for assistance, using what very limited information YOUR company gave employees during training. I specifically asked what we do with abusive callers, and did what I was told, yet STILL got a reprimand, even when the manager of the entire region told me personally I did everything right. If I did everything correctly, then why do I get a red flag? No.
Also, more allowance with medical situations. I had a very, very difficult pregnancy, yet I STILL went to work, even the day after I'd been at the ER for severe morning sickness, to the point where my organs were starting to malfunction. DISH couldn't tell me whether I'd be let go or not if I made doctor's appointments to make sure I don't get ridiculously and 100% preventably sick, they just told me apply for the ADA, with no other benefits or exceptions I could apply for. I ended up having to leave. Between the more than two hour commute, having to take meds to make sure I could simply stay on my feet, and poor treatment from management, it wasn't worth the barely $9.50 I made an hour going there anymore.

I worked at DISH full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Training and development is far superior compared to almost any company I've ever worked for. Upper management is more than willing to help you in your time of need.

    Cons

Don't let anyone sell you a pipe dream. This job is a lot of work with technical blended in, hot in the attics and the metrics don't always work in your favor. Sell, Sell, Sell... or get the hatchet.

    Advice to Management

Fortunately, I had great FSM's while employed with this company. If they said they would do it you could count on it. These guys did not sell me the company dream, they sold me on myself. This is something I will carry with me the rest of my life. Oscar Gutierez (Angleton Office) Martin Lehman (Oak Ridge North).
