I have been working at DISH full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Renown company. Headquarters in Denver which is an attractive city. Offer relocation. Sling has a younger crowd and presents itself as a "start up".

    Cons

Average benefits. No work from home. Must badge in and out before 9am every single day (even in case of snowstorm). No maternity leave. Low salaries. Low employee recognition

    Advice to Management

Try harder to retain young talents. Show some flexibility and become more employee focused. Listen more to feedback from employees, especially towards management.

I have been working at DISH full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The money is great. They have good benefits & the management team is fantastic. Lots of room for advancement.

    Cons

The days can be long, and most of the people calling in are upset about something. This is why the compensation is so great. The attendance policy is very strict, and getting an occurrence for being sick with a doctors excuse is not great.

    Advice to Management

Promote more women. Revise the attendance policy that would not give an occurrence for leaving work if your really physically ill. Making an employee work while sick makes everyone else sick.

    Pros

They give you a regular paycheck.

    Cons

Work for a company where the future is uncertain, leadership lacks vision, communication is politicized, wages are below average, benefits are the bare minimum and the work demanded is irrelevant to the goals set by corporate!

    Advice to Management

Get your show together! Get it all together and put it in a backpack—all your show, so it's together. And if you gotta take it somewhere, take it somewhere, you know? Take it to the show store and sell it, or put it in a show museum. I don't care what you do! You just gotta get it together! Get your show together.

I have been working at DISH full-time

    Pros

The product is useful, cutting edge, and affects me in my own home. This helps with motivation on long nights.

    Cons

Budget is tight due to a very competitive industry. Compensation suffers with lower than average healthcare plans. Overtime is often necessary throwing off work/life balance.

    Advice to Management

Provide a compensation package that incentivizes employees to stay. Respect work/life balance. I would not recommend open jobs to family or friends because of these concerns.

    no pros for this company

    Cons

You cannot work here if you are over the age of 50, maybe even 40

    Advice to Management

You may want to consider hiring qualified candidates over the age of 50. Just a thought.

I have been working at DISH full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Work 4 days and off 3. No one looking over your shoulder while you work.

    Cons

All the management care about is how much you sell.

    Advice to Management

Give your employees for chances to move up in your company. People don't always want to stay a tech forever and if the fsm jobs are filled there's nothing else to do.

  9. "Exciting direction, great vision, and bountiful opportunities for development... just substandard compensation"

I have been working at DISH (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent Culture, active encouragement to develop existing skills and add new ones, opportunity to develop innovative solutions and have a direct impact on your organization and the company as a whole. The company as a whole is taking an exciting path into the unknown and there are great opportunities to be recognized as the company looks for solutions to new problems at all levels of the organization.

    Cons

Work like balance is very work heavy. Compensation is lower than comparable positions with other companies. Due to the previously mentioned issues there is high turnover and being regularly understaffed leads to a feeling of keeping up rather than getting to focus on the fulfilling part of the job, blazing new trails.

    Advice to Management

With the amount of training and development you put into your employees it would seem that spending a bit more on salary and health benefits would be a net gain if it allowed for a reduction of the turnover rate.
