I worked at DISH full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good work life balance, opportunity for promotions and bi-weekly bonuses. No micro management. Performance based.

    Cons

Work through all kinds of weather, expected to sell at customers houses, affects promotions and bonuses if you dont. Policies and direction of the company are constantly changing.

I have been working at DISH full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great pay, okay benefits, employee re-commitment and greater focus than before.
Ideas are heard from all levels.
Solid future roadmap and fresh thinking on new consumer and commercial products.
Opportunity for partnerships allowing greater market share and impact.

    Cons

Management still rolls up to Charlie Ergen, but Charlie seems a changed man. He still wants to win and make $$, but his approach is a bit more refined.

    Advice to Management

Let employees be themselves so that each feels empowered to do their job, and take part in new initiatives, without making them feel as though they're constantly under the microscope.

    I worked at DISH full-time

    Pros

Great Co-workers! Enjoyed working with customers, and helping them with their tvs, computers, stereo sound systems, etc... I really like the innovation of the company and the much needed skills they develop in their techs to be competitive in today's market.

    Cons

Inadequate training for the tasks required. This is more an issue with local management. The company provides great exercises to prepare the technicians for success. Management seldom knows how to find these training aids/videos. I stumbled on them myself.

    Advice to Management

In my experience management needs to reflect the innovation of the company and explore all tools provided to help the technicians be successful. Today's world is about training and coaching. Drilling the technicians will only boost performance to the minimum. Proper coaching can help techs far exceed what is expected of them. The company provides these opportunities.

I worked at DISH full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Tuition reimbursement helped finish my bachelors degree while working the weekend shift. Our site is also heavily focused on Lean Manufacturing, which is a plus. The salary for what I did was pretty substantial, thankful for it too.

    Cons

Lack of communication sometimes. Need better and direct communication about what is going on, even on a daily basis. Sometimes you feel out of the loop. Also, lots of gossip, but what can you expect..

    Advice to Management

I've seen tremendous improvements over the years so I would just continue to do what you've been doing.

I have been working at DISH full-time

    Pros

Ever increasing responsibilities in line with performance. If you want somewhere on your resume where you were able to get a lot done in a short time, this may be the ideal fit for you.

    Cons

High expectations of everyone who works there. It is not for the faint of heart, or someone looking to only show up 40 hours per week.

    Advice to Management

stop making everything a fire drill. A failure of planning on your part should not necessitate an emergency on mine.

I have been working at DISH full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

open-door management, great benefits and incentives to sell, overtime is always available, room to be promoted

    Cons

sitting and taking inbound calls for 10 hours a day, limited breaks, some coaches are solely stats-based, and if you work until close, be prepared to stay for 30-40 minutes after your shift to empty the queues

    Advice to Management

Don't require agent to stay half an hour to an hour after their shift has ended just to clear some queues

I worked at DISH full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

So many opportunities for growth and advancement! I had the opportunity to really learn a lot and grow my skill set. I had the BEST manager ever during my last position and she made it an extremely difficult decision to leave.

    Cons

Benefits were less than desirable. "Not the worst but not the best" is the phrase most often used to describe them.
Lots of bureaucracy and office politics.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and focus on being an employer of choice vs. not being the worst place to work.
