I worked at DISH as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very structured internship for people who don't just want to sit around an office all day and be bored. Activities for interns were really fun and they really work to make sure you are networking within the company and are having fun. The project you complete is hard but a really great thing to put on resumes and challenges you.

    Cons

The project made the internship somewhat stressful which was good in some ways too. The company is fairly traditional which I didn't like (you work in cubicles, walls are all white, business casual). The CEO can be a definite jerk and no one is really extremely passionate about pay television.

    Advice to Management

    Loosen up a bit

    Pros

DISH rarely says "no" or "we can't do that" to projects or ideas to improve the business.

Individuals are allowed to take on limitless projects and work cross-functionally to develop their personal skills.

Operates more like a small company in terms of management layers and individual input to the larger picture.

    The people are fantastic.

    Cons

    Internal culture is self-deprecating.

Cannot go outside to eat in exterior of corporate cafeteria without badging out against hours, so many do not enjoy the beautiful Colorado days during lunch/meeting time. This outdoor space already exists and could be utilized as a real perk to encourage meetings in an inspiring and invigorating environment overlooking the Rockies.

I have been working at DISH full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great work environment. Great pay for a dual income family. Very easy job if you've got tough skin, or aren't overly sensitive. I've seen a lot of reviews of people bashing DISH. I would wage to bet that most of them are single in their early 20s wanting to go party and spend their money before it's daylight. Hence the problem with the hours. You aren't over worked or underpaid. There's plenty of money to be made you just have to actually work for it. Plus great benefits as well as differentials for certain shifts. Great opportunities, and people. Friendly environment, unless you suck at your job (which isn't hard at all) then you get help and constructive criticism (but of course most kids these days can't tell the difference and get offended). They're always wanting to help you better yourself for the company and your own career.

    Cons

Only con I have is not being able to tell entitled people that you aren't giving them @@@& as far as credits because you pay for what you use.

    Advice to Management

Management is doing a great job so far! Training staff is top notch, you'll always see the site director walking around pods and laughing and talking with people. Really keeps morale up.

    I worked at DISH full-time

    Pros

Wages are OK as are the benefits, performance incentives for technicians and their supervisors are very good and not too difficult to achieve if you are willing to workquickly, do things the way you are told to and you show up when you are supposed to. Technicians are provided with uniforms, tools, smart phones and vehicles to accomplish the job, at no charge. Typically 4 ten-hour days per week, overtime paid at time-and-a-half.

    Cons

Immature, slow, people who don't work well without close supervision or without experience with tools and basic understanding of mechanical things need not apply- you won't last six months.
The company's desire to provide quality work is addressed with sincerity at all levels- until production goals are not met, then quantity takes precedence over quality. Compensation for jobs not directly customer-facing is on the low end of any scale and have ZERO incentives. Travel for work often costs the employee due to a penny-pinching travel reimbursement policy. As the company has matured in the industry, the level of "corporatization" has increased as has the number of sickening corporate climbers.

    Advice to Management

Go back to the way your business was run when you were killing cable, lose the unnecessary management layers and the corpromisers who jump ship at the first whiff of accountability.
