I worked at DISH full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The only pro was the people who you worked with. Good people

    Cons

Takes permission from three people to go to bathroom, management doesn't support their employees decisions, asked to support decisions in advertising by "explaining" what was meant by advertisement, such as tacking on the equipment fees on top of the 49.99 for TV deal

    Advice to Management

Say what you mean and understand that some people take it personally when a customer calls in and yells at them for 30 minutes because they lost their TV reception in a snow.storm.

    Pros

Fantastic People in most business teams. Region managers and below have a great knowledge of front line issues and how to solve them. Supportive Mid level management

    Cons

No loyalty. Culture is not for everyone. Director level and above can be disconnected from the challenges of the field world.

I worked at DISH full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay, especially if your get the bonuses. Can be fun at times. For some people, especially if you live in the country, this job can be perfect you. Sometimes I did work outside the city and that was much better; easier to get points up, not as hot, people are nicer.

    Cons

They use a computerized point system to track and score certain aspects of your work. Your score determines everything from your bi-weekly salary bonus to promotions/ pay raises and whether or not you keep your job. Unfortunately, the "Pi metric system" measures things that are mostly out of your control, and when you frustratingly put fourth huge amounts of effort to raise your score, it rarely makes a difference as your score is much more dependent on your location and luck. For example, if you are in a city with a lot of apartments, you can expect to get at least a half a dozen canceled jobs a week. It only takes a few to virtually disqualify you from any bonus, promotion, or raise that month. I was told by senior coworkers that no one had received a raise or promotion since the current metric system had been implemented several years earlier. Essentially zero chance for advancement in the office I was at. Many people quit or were fired in the time I was there, including the operations manager who hired me.

I have been working at DISH full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There are some nice people here, I honestly can't tell you why they stay but they make the days almost tolerable.

    Cons

The culture is flat out horrible. I chose to ignore all of the reviews here on Glassdoor because I couldn't believe it was that bad but it is and 90% of what you read here is true. The "core hours" are archaic and ridiculously enforced. What passes for offices haven't been updated in what seems to be decades, they are sub par by 1990's standards for what a good office should be let alone modern standards. Upper management is a laughing stock, they micromanage and put forth no type of vision or strategy what so ever. The "Base Camp" on boarding training is ineffectively long and basically a crash course in why working in a call center is a soul sucking job you should avoid unless you have no choice. The kicker is that management is so gun ho on this program that no one dares criticize it but in reality is it as garbage as the rest of this place. Day to day work is tedious because the processes and systems are nearly unusable in most cases. During the interview process I was told that the company is "working hard to change" yet in an all company meeting when asked about making changes to attract talent and make work life better the response from upper management was essentially, if you don't like it leave. Many people are taking this to heart and there is an almost constant stream of resignations and open unfilled positions.

    Advice to Management

The rumors are out there that a sale is eminent. Just sell and get out because it is obvious there is no desire to compete and strive to be a great organization.
