I have been working at DISH full-time

    Pros

Lots of OT available, provided tools, van, and they pay for gas and tolls, you get paid for drive time. good co workers, initial training is to sell YOU on working for the company so they load you up with as many snacks as you like and buy lunch and dinner everyday and put you up in a hotel room
GREAT EXTRA benefits, ok health insurance, working outside and not under strict supervision

    Cons

Not knowing when you are going to be finished everyday, LOTS OF PRESSURE TO SELL, Management does not seem to care about you as a person. I've seen guys who are injured and they ask them to still perform a route. I also see where the next couple of steps could take me in position, and even the higher paying jobs are not very desireable or pay that much higher to make someone want to climb the ladder

    Advice to Management

maybe actually give a crap about people as people and not just your numbers

    I worked at DISH full-time

    Pros

Pay is good for what you do, managers treat you like a person, get to see new places and experience new things, you don't have to work 8 hours a day in blazing heat or freezing cold without a break, you get a chance to be independent and think for yourself

    Cons

have to go into some not so nice houses with some not so nice people inside. and some not so nice doggies.

    Advice to Management

listen to your techs. If the majority of the techs are unpleased with the way management are running things, maybe it ain't the techs fault. adapt and overcome.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at DISH full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Compensation was good, Work tools are provided, get to work inside so weather doesn't impact the job.

    Cons

Development is very limited. Everything you do is tracked and monitored, even statistics that they don't tell you about. Expected to learn of changes without being informed of changes within the company. Goals set aren't very easy to achieve. High turn around because of stress and job demand

    Advice to Management

Spend more time developing agents than making sure they are talking to customers. A well trained agent is better than having a lot of agents making mistakes

I worked at DISH full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Company is generally big on promoting from within which is always a plus. The opportunities for growth are endless depending on your approach. The company has also been providing training courses for leadership. Good working hours depending on Org and good perks such as significant discounts on your dish/sling account. Also a good 401k program.

    Cons

Poor communication/lack of transparency from upper management. Manufacturing director/senior vp has created a sense of micro managing throughout the organization, creating an unstable work environment in every sense of the term. His direct managers/support group have been spear heading an initiative to cut cost by considering every position and laying off employees where needed. Unfortunately such acts are taking place every where BUT at the manufacturing head quarters (how ironic). This has lowered moral due to uncertainty of having a job, especially when things are happening without any sense of communication.

"Get it done by any means necessary" mentality to the point that even uncontrollable situations such as weather issues are not a reason to miss work.

Attendance/tardy point system that leaves no room for any reasonable unexcused absences.

Undercover "Bell curve system" during performance appraisal season even though the company denys doing so on the surface. HR insist that this approach is not allowed but turns the blind eye when they know it is happening.

    Pay is low.

Poor Medical benefits but will admit that this is the trend at just about every company.

    Advice to Management

Overall the pros of working at dish outweigh the cons... I recommend improving on communication and transparency. Also focus on developing trust with the organization and not a mentality of "staying under the radar" or let's do whatever is needed to please the VP. Bell curve system needs to be completely done away with.

I have been working at DISH full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Reliable paycheck, pays more than unemployment, almost free satellite tv service, paid time off, health savings account, generally laid back work area

    Cons

Biased management, culture, promotions not based on merit but on buddying up to manager, below-average pay, stagnant environment, time wasted using tools no other companies use severely limiting outside opportunities

    Advice to Management

Monitor middle management, institute fairness policy, give a damn

I have been working at DISH full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Base Camp is a new program to help employees learn about how DISH works. It is supported by our executive program, and is helping us learn how to make the employee and customer experience better. Incredibly innovative program.

    Cons

I've been with the company for nearly 15 years, and seen incredible changes as it has evolved. At this point, I see few cons, and encourage management to keep looking at how to improve.

    Advice to Management

As the workforce changes to millennials - we need to figure out how to stay true to our values, and embrace their needs. Our world is changing, and we can learn to change with it.
