I have been working at DISH full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great pay, okay benefits, employee re-commitment and greater focus than before.
Ideas are heard from all levels.
Solid future roadmap and fresh thinking on new consumer and commercial products.
Opportunity for partnerships allowing greater market share and impact.

    Cons

Management still rolls up to Charlie Ergen, but Charlie seems a changed man. He still wants to win and make $$, but his approach is a bit more refined.

    Advice to Management

Let employees be themselves so that each feels empowered to do their job, and take part in new initiatives, without making them feel as though they're constantly under the microscope.

I have been working at DISH full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

If you have a good Manager, projects can be very rewarding and provide great experience for advancing ones career

    Cons

Benefits are competitively the bottom of the barrel for Engineering. Large number of employees that would prefer to move on but feel stuck because they are in green card processing. Poor planning by upper management has resulted in mandatory cancellations of vacations and long nights and weekends for months at a time that could have been avoided. Upper management has little ability to understand intangibles.

    Advice to Management

Take money off the table; compensate your highly skilled employees fairly so they can focus on doing great things.

I have been working at DISH full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Base Camp is a new program to help employees learn about how DISH works. It is supported by our executive program, and is helping us learn how to make the employee and customer experience better. Incredibly innovative program.

    Cons

I've been with the company for nearly 15 years, and seen incredible changes as it has evolved. At this point, I see few cons, and encourage management to keep looking at how to improve.

    Advice to Management

As the workforce changes to millennials - we need to figure out how to stay true to our values, and embrace their needs. Our world is changing, and we can learn to change with it.

I have been working at DISH full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

It's an ever changing industry that is never dull or boring. Just when you get used to business as usual, the wind changes direction and new challenges unfold. If you like change, and like learning from a technology leader, you will never be bored. Opportunity is only limited by your own imagination and your ability to navigate through uncharted waters.

    Cons

Cafeteria is too small (soon to be smaller). Parking lot is too crowded (need to encourage car pools). Growth is out the roof (literally). We need more conference rooms.

    Advice to Management

We've seen some great improvements with manager conduct. Keep up the LEADs training and start rolling it down below manager/supervisor. Staff needs a little lovin' too and could use some continuous education as well.

I have been working at DISH full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

DISH is a fast paced competitive work environment. I enjoy being busy with meaningful projects that when completed you can look back on with pride. I enjoy working with intelligent competent people that I can trust when deadlines close in. Over my time here at DISH, I have seen significant improvement in the quality of people brought into our accounting department. The bar has been raised. Overall my experience here has been positive.

    Cons

Our insurance coverage could be better.

    Advice to Management

Continue to challenge employees with opportunities and let them succeed. DISH has been great about giving people the opportunity to prove themselves in roles that may seem out of reach.

    I worked at DISH full-time

    Pros

There are no pros that come to mind…

    Cons

Dish Network cannot get out of its own way. One might look at the comments from lower level employees and think that they all can't be true or perhaps question their validity. I was a Senior Manager for Dish and let me give anyone looking for a place to go some advice, don't come here. My reasons are below:

    1) Senior Management doesn't care, no matter what they may try to tell you.
    2) The Benefits are poor. (One plan to pick)
    3) The expectations are unrealistic. (Many metrics are not achievable and not in your control)
    4) It's a dying industry with little room for growth (What device do your kids watch television on?)
    5) Employee Engagement continues to dwindle year over year.

    Advice to Management

Nothing I can say here will hold any impact with current leadership at Dish.

I have been working at DISH full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

On the whole, DISH is trying to become a better company. Employee suggestions are taken and seriously considered. Continuous improvement is top of mind for senior leaders as is improving employee engagement. People that work at DISH are friendly and fun.

    Cons

Recognition is not regular and pay can vary greatly for the same position. Politics still play an important role in getting things accomplished instead of decisioning based on what is best for employees and customers.

    Advice to Management

Employees are the greatest asset and customers write everyone's paychecks. Keeping this at the top of the list when making decisions and setting the strategy should help DISH win.
