It took me forever to recover from the damage caused by this employer
Oct 23, 2014 - Sales in Boise, IDRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The employees I worked with were great and I loved the office manager who really cared about us. This was a place that allowed me to learn what a toxic environment was really like.
Cons
The CEO was very mean and hurtful and appeared to not care at all about her staff. Everyone walked on egg shells around the office in fear of some insulting comment being thrown their way, and the review below about "Monkeys" is absolutely true. This company has a lot to learn about creating a "strengths based culture" and I would not recommend this place to anyone who has any self respect for themselves. I understand that they have relocated to Texas somewhere and I would assume it is because they have exhausted all of the recourses Boise had to offer and gone through every great sales person available.

Great Place to Work!
Apr 5, 2019 - Business Development Manager in Austin, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
•A generous owner & friendly staff •Potential for growth •Relaxed work environment •Learning experience •In a great area for food & shopping If you come in on time, ready to do your job, eager to learn and want to sharpen your marketing skills, then I think you found your match!
Cons
I wouldn’t say there are any cons based on my brief experience with DJM. I see some previous comments about a mean, inappropriate, unprofessional owner and I did not deal with that at all. I think some of these other comments might be based on previous ownership because I was very impressed with how involved the owner was with his team. He was funny and made the environment relaxed. He is super generous, providing employees with an abundance of snacks and coffee. I would recommend getting a gym membership bc you will be spoiled with frequent lunches and breakfasts. So if you happen to work here under Todd, I believe you’re in great hands. I chose this position because I felt like it would be a great learning experience and it would sharpen my skills in marketing. Unfortunately, I did not consider the traffic after work or just how long the commute would be. Please learn from my mistake and consider that before you apply.
Continue readingThanks a ton for the nice comments! We try to do our best, make a for a simple and easy-going work environment so teams can do their job, and do it well. Best of luck and we'll see ya soon! Todd

Collaborative Team Approach
Sep 22, 2015 - Business Development in Austin, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
DJM is a smaller company with a good group of employees, most who have been with the company for almost as long as the company has been in Austin. The job description entails making a significant number of outbound calls each day. Capable team members are offered opportunities to improve their visibility by working new assignments or dig deeper into the dynamics of their existing assignments. Many employees enhance their positions and grow their skill set by creating specific marketing campaigns with each project. DJM is a boutique shop and we may have a dozen different specialized accounts or projects at a given time. Those employees who like variety and changing priorities will enjoy working here. Those who thrive on an entirely structured role 52 weeks a year will not. Each staff member is offered the ability to tailor their “pitch” as is reasonable instead of reading from a canned script from someone who hasn’t talked on the phone.
Cons
The task of making a high volume of phone calls each day to schedule is the main part of the job description. It isn’t necessarily easy work and isn’t for everyone.

Absolutely none if you have ever had a real job!
Cons
There is NOT enough space in this text box to contain all CONS but here are a few: -DJM will offer a decent salary then take it away after you are hired and have left your BETTER job. -CEO has NO VISION! -ADHOC leadership! -Black Widow Trap -Death to your sales career! -They hire desperate, low self-esteem employees that have experienced such a bad life that -DJM is the best thing that has ever happened to them...SSSSAAAADDD! -CEO takes advantage of poor souls! -NIGHTMARE place to work! -What commissions? -Uneducated and under-qualified supervisors -No mangers in charge JUST CEO over supervisors -Supervisors fear the CEO -Cannot GIVE LESS THAN 1 STAR RATING -DJM relocated to Austin -Made to feel like a prisoner, NOT an employee! -CEO is insulting -CEO likes to brags about all the great places she goes, all the things she owns and does while employees starve! -NO room to grow unless you agree to be ruled by CEO or get fired -Your successful experience is NOT WELCOME! -You might need to see a therapist during or after you work there -Poisoning Austin opportunities! -Expects employees to have ignorant idaho culture, very contrary to AUSTIN! -Getting SICK to my stomach rethinking about this experience! -etc,,,,

Learned a ton...
Feb 14, 2018 - Inside Sales Representative in Austin, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Education about: - sales - general business - digital marketing - our client products - so much more. I now work in sales for another company. And - I'm very successful. Since this is my second job in sales, I'm very sure my success comes from what I learned while I was at DJM - even though I wasn't very successful while I was there. The CEO and my sales manager tried very hard to help me, but, I just didn't have what it takes to understand why I didn't do well.. Now I do! And I'm very grateful for that education.
Cons
I wish I had really understood the value of what I ws learning while I worked at DJM. Sometimes it's hard to really understand the value of what we do and what we are learning.

Good input - thank you very much! It is true, our office is spinning pretty fast and quite often we don't get the chance to stop and take a second to breathe it all in... same goes with management. Sometimes, we expect our staff to ask questions more - so they may go unnoticed. Good to know where we can pay more attention to helping others truly understand their duties.... Thanks and best of luck!

Fun, with a bright future.
Apr 1, 2015 - Anonymous Employee in Austin, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I biggest pro to working at DJM is the amount of experience you will gain working in various areas of business. They entrust the employees with numerous vital business actions, and have a working environment that allows employees to learn about all aspects of the business. No one employee is bound by his "Title" and they allow their employees to display their talents; while mentoring and developing them into an all around employee. The work culture is very much one of a close family, and everyone is looking out for each other and no one is looking to leverage anyone else for personal improvement. We are all focused on achieving the same goals, and reaching the level of status that the company once was.
Cons
We need more self motivated, young talent willing to put in the extra hours to help us reach our pinnacle and stay on top.

DJM needs to change
Feb 8, 2015 - Business Development Representative in Austin, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
There were really no Pros in my experiences with this company and how they treated most of the other staff,
Cons
There are a lot of Cons working for this company. The Owners of this company have no real direction for the company. They consistently are changing the way things are done-the company process. They have gone in the direction of being an extreme micro management company, in which they treat their staff like children and not adults. They are not loyal to their staff. I saw many of the staff let go for minor reasons. When they have an immediate need for you then you are of some value to them, when they believe that you are not, you will be replaced like some kind of old car part. From my experience and from what I have witnessed, is that the CEO and other Partner from time to time show extreme irrational behavior. This company appears to be in a state of decline.

Not something I'd recommend-- to anyone.
Jan 8, 2016 - Lead Development Representative in Austin, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Working at DJM will reveal whether or not you have sales talent. You'll learn whether or not you can close which will, ideally, enable you to leave DJM at your earliest opportunity and pursue better opportunities.
Cons
The CEO is unpredictable and unprofessional; she is a toxic liability to her own company. She can't be trusted to control her emotions, or to communicate like an adult; her dramatic mood-shifts and temper tantrums affect morale office-wide. Agents are not equipped with the resources they need to perform optimally. DJM's leads are often either stale, over-valued, or flatly incorrect; you WILL waste much of your time on these types of calls, and DJM is unwilling to implement procedural improvements to address this issue.

Of course we're sorry to see such negativity about our business that has been operating successfully for 18 years. And, management would of course like to apologize to existing, successful staff that may have to read the ranting of an individual that failed in their sales career at DJM. As all DJM's clients well know, every single lead is guaranteed so this individual's accusation relative to the quality of our services is truly false. We wish this individual the best of luck in whatever career path, outside of the sales profession, they take.

Business Development Representative
Feb 24, 2016 - Business Development Representative in Seattle, WARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great teamwork environment! The senior management mentors the growth and hands-on training of the team, whether seasoned pros or entry-level positions. As a national leader in the lead generation industry, they are demanding and strongly encourage self discipline and focus to ensure success. The team leads are fully engaged in the over-all culture of a fast paced top notch global approach.
Cons
It would be wise to consider one's career path and personal dedication to personal success before joining this group. They are highly trained and skilled in qualifying their potential clients offering superb business acumen to their corporate clients. Be aware that one must be fully committed to fast paced, and ever changing world of high tech ventures! They are NOT for the employees who are mediocre!
