I worked at DJO Global full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Work/Life balance was made available. They offer onsite health workout by a professional trainer and have a gym. Their health benefits and policies are good. All business units are on one operating system.

    Cons

Little to no growth has resulted in high employee turnover rates. Management who have been in the same role provides no new fresh views or changes to much needed policies and procedures not related to HR. DJO is infamous for launching great ideas but then they often fizzle out over a few months.

    Advice to Management

Top talent is recruited but not retained - it's been an issue for many years and partly due to two reasons - now growth and politics.

I worked at DJO Global full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great products that truly help improve peoples' lives.
    Respected brands in the industry.
Hardworking, knowledgable employees who want to make a positive impact on their customers.
Good benefits including ample vacation time.
Good severance packages for laid off employees.

    Cons

Poor executive / upper management who are still employed because of seniority.
Layoffs occur frequently and the responsibilities are expected to be handled by remaining employees. Employees are constantly in fear of losing their jobs.
Employees are stretched very thin, allowing them enough time to get the bare minimum accomplished, but not enough time to excel at any one thing.
Uncertainty of the long-term plans for growth - strategic direction is never a 3-5 year plan, rather it changes every year making it difficult to achieve growth.
Misalignment between corporate branding (DJO) strategies and the sub-brands' strategies (Don-Joy, Chattanooga, Dr. Comfort, Bell-Horn).
Poor communication to employees at sites outside Vista, CA.

    Advice to Management

Make a 3-5 year business plan and stick to it. Include employees within each of the brands to develop the plan and maintain consistent communication to all employees throughout the process.

    Pros

Great benefits including gym and they offer daily circuit training and yoga. They offer discounts on products that they produce.

    Cons

Djo brings in most employees as temps then take there time to hire them as permanent employees. Which means if they company has a holiday you do not get paid.

    Advice to Management

Offer bonuses when the company hits goals.

    Cons

Dr.Comfort is a freaking joke. They are completely unorganized and the management is terrible. There is favoritism and Discrimination within the walls.God forbid you actually stand up for yourself and reach out to HR they try and place all the blame on you. They tell you that you are up for promotion and they want you to fill that spot you have what it takes and turn around and tell everyone else you weren't a good fit.

    Advice to Management

Get your stuff together and stop trying to play the victim.

    Pros

Leaders want to install an elite culture similar to that of Fortune 100 companies. They are trying to establish themselves as top tier players across the entire continuum of orthopedic care.

    Cons

Unfortunately not everyone bought into the vision. Too many of the old guard refuse to change. Too much change in directions. As soon as one initiative gets rolling, the rug gets pulled out and you start over. Closing the Empi Division hurt.

    Advice to Management

Try and establish your overall goals and communicate clearly. Then let everyone row In The right direction.

    Pros

Great people with a high desire to succeed.

    Cons

Very minimalistic mentality in management from investments to employee salary. Talent continues to walk out of the door. No life work balance.

    Advice to Management

Say what you say you will do. If people are valuable invest in the people. You will continue to decline as talent continues to walk out of the door. The problem is not with your products is the inefficiencies that continue to grow due to the lack of investments and talent.
