I have been working at DLB full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

DLB is not your traditional MEP engineering firm. The company has a strong culture that is highly focused on communication and strongly believes in understanding their clients in order to deliver optimal results.

The level of talent at the company is second to none and the staff has what I would consider a heightened level of self-awareness that lends itself to avoiding "engineer-think."

It's a company that is ever-evolving and focused on innovating as quickly as it's primary client base in the data center industry.

    Cons

DLB does not have traditional roles. You create your own destiny and are rewarded with increased responsibility and projects. If you're looking for a new job title though to take you through the traditional company hierarchy, this probably isn't the place for you.

    Advice to Management

Focus on making DLB the best company to work for.

    I worked at DLB full-time

    Pros

Great benefits, good techie culture, encourages employees to use high level thinking strategies to approaching problems.

    Cons

Unless you are an engineer, good luck trying to get equal treatment. The company does not invest enough in high tech to expand and focuses too closely on utilizing existing technology to drive innovative solutions.

    Advice to Management

Treat the non engineers as well as the engineers. It shows in your criticism and judgement. We are PEOPLE too!

    I worked at DLB full-time

    Pros

The workspace is beautiful and there is a good group of people there to work with. There is always work to be done and it is easy to stay busy.

    Cons

The learning and growth aspect was lacking at DLB. There was more reporting on the work that was being done than actual work being done. Otherwise, there were not many cons.

    Advice to Management

I have no advice to management at this time.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at DLB full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The pay and benefits are great.

    Cons

Needed to justify your daily value to the company, in essay form, 3-4 times a day. No job security. No trust.

  6. "Good salaries and benefits, no room for growth, too much micromanagement."

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Salaries and benefits are above average, good work environment. Lunches are available at a very low cost to employees.

    Cons

There's no where to grow, and everything is micromanaged. Frequent changes result in no job security.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at DLB (More than a year)

    Pros

The firm is comprised of smart, hard-working, creative people handling technology-led real estate solutions. They provide an excellent package of compensation and benefits to attract and retain the best and brightest.

    Cons

The firm's work environment is not for everyone. The decision-making is all linked to one key person - the owner - who enjoys micromanaging down to the finest detail, rarely sleeps, and works well over 100 hours per week.

    Advice to Management

Working in a crowded field, it can be challenging to differentiate oneself and avoid being overrun by larger, global firms who can offer more "free work" as an inducement to be hired. What's the thing that differentiates the firm and clients are willing to pay a premium to get?

    Pros

Good training, will put you out there for good sales skills

    Cons

Slight pressure but not that bad to be honest. Its good pay not really any cons cause of that.

    Knowledgeable and capable senior staff.

Long hours are the norm, not the exception.
Company culture can be demanding to adapt to.
