    Pros

Flex Time is great and can help get you through the really tough times you will face each week.
Great people to work with (mostly) as "all in the same boat"
Easy place for "coasters" as most middle managers and directors too busy looking after there own interests to worry too much about what you are doing.

    Cons

No management means no progress, lots of stress, a " he who shouts loudest" environment and no one in control.
The Board , CEO and middle Managers spend most of the time in meetings. Time could be better spent managing the business.
Every day there is bad news, risk of redundancy, cuts in benefits, doom gloom and depression.
Many of the employees have been there for an age and have a fatalist mentality.

    Advice to Management

Get a grip on things. If you are any good find another employer.
    If you can't then retire.
Respect the people that work for you. You need them - probably more than they need you.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Some good people in the organisation

    Cons

Senior Management and sales are truly atrocious. The only way to save this business is to clear out management and the sales department. No discernible strategy. Secrecy, nepotism, cliques and generally poor ethical standards.

    Advice to Management

remove the CEO and get some sales people who know how to sell.

I worked at DRS Data & Research full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people there are great with good comradery between departments.
They have a great flexi-time scheme
    Generous holiday allowance

    Cons

Owners are quick to make cuts/redundancies at the first sight of profits slipping
    Poor staff retention
Pension contributions have been reduced, private Healthcare has been taken away and bonuses have not been issued in a long time.

    Advice to Management

Need to consider staff retention, lots of business domain knowledge is being lost that will inevitably cost the company dearly in the long run.

I worked at DRS Data & Research full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Flexi-time, a few nice people

    Cons

Totally incapable CEO and a bunch of comedy Directors. Some of them vaguely professional but suffocated by the majority.
The stress levels amongst staff can reach record levels due to the lack of management. Staff are not appreciated or rewarded properly.

    Advice to Management

The last CEO ( Tony Lee) was fired...it is time for the current one to be cut loose too.
You directors and "mangers" that remain need to get yourself some books, sign up for courses and make an effort to learn some management skills.
It's probably too late for some.

I worked at DRS Data & Research full-time

    Pros

    * Flexi Time - includes 2 hour lunch breaks
    * Some amazing staff - who are friends for life
    * People will do anything for each other (the majority)
    * Free parking
    * Benefits are ok, but other companies offer the same.

    Cons

    * CEO is not a good CEO - first role as CEO
    * Little or no communication from him or directors
    * Directors fight amongst themselves and we get to hear all about it
    * Managers are not strong enough and dont know how to manage and try an cover themselves
    * People are there because they have little option elsewhere
    * There are a lot of heads in the sand
    * Directors and Managers pay lip service to Investors in People and all the accreditations they have
    * Tony Lee is not the CEO, its Steve Gowers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Advice to Management

Things will not change at DRS unless CEO and Senior Management change. People are able to get away with doing nothing because their managers do nothing. It was a great family run business that tried to go bigger but unfortunately doesnt have the skills or expertise to do so.
It is a dog eat dog environment, everyone should be working for the better of the company and not for themselves..

    Pros

    Flexible and relaxed. That's all.

    Cons

Some staff work hard with little reward. Management clicky, with certain members of staff getting preferential treatment. No long term strategy, not a lot of work in Print Department too many staff members. Extramarital affairs in work all to common

    Advice to Management

Treat members off staff with more respect, work on lack of man management abilities.

    Advice to Management
