    Pros

Enjoyed a variety of interesting projects in both commercial and government/defense sectors.

    Cons

Because it's foreign-owned, there wet quite a bit of Federal regulations and laws to complicate work activities making things less enjoyable.

    Pros

Salaries are good. Benefits are good except for the recent reduction of the 401K match

    Cons

Management is weak and inexperienced. Decisions are made as the "soup du jour"; planning is not a priority. All management are engineers moved through the ranks though cronyism. No real business experience.

    Let This Be A LESSON

Aug 14, 2014 - Engineer in Melbourne, FL

    Pros

The 'Tactical Systems' division of DRS Technologies NO LONGER EXISTS. It was 'merged' with DRS-RSTA in 2013. Back when I first arrived at DRS (early 2000's) it WAS a great place to work.

    Cons

Let This Be A LESSON Another GREAT Example of Corporate 'management' all dressed up for the Role, but with absolutely NOTHING to do! From day ONE, they had ONLY one product, and ONLY one Customer! Attempts to diversify the business line were Feeble at best. When a co. gets focused on 'developing' a WILDLY over-priced item for a 'customer' who gladly pays TEN TIMES what that product is truly worth, they have no 'vision', or a real-world sense of economy. The local 'management' team were Not managers in any sense. They were merely puppets for the DoD. They had ZERO incentive to control Costs, OR Quality. Improving or refining the product was Out-Of-The-Question, as even the smallest details were Firmly Dictated by DoD Micro-Managers. When the current crop of Pure Liberals in Washington decided to pull the plug on 'evil defense spending', that was the Instant Death-Knell for Tactical Systems. In less than six months time, Tactical Systems discovered that their existing revenue stream had suddenly gone to ZERO. NO product to build, NO income at all, and no need for any 'employees'.

Biggest mistake to source manufacturing in China.

    Pros

Great place to work when business was good. 9/80 work schedule, good benefits.

    Cons

Too dependent on military business. Commercial Products could have been more successful if more competitive prices were offered. Too high of cost structure due to top heavy management.

    Great Place to Work

Feb 8, 2014 - Supervisor in Melbourne, FL

    Pros

Dedicated employees and a great attempt to break down communication barriers between upper management, engineering, manufacturing, and support groups; though not always successful. Work was challenging but rewarding.

    Cons

Due to the decline in the defense business and large scale contract awards, re-organization was a business necessity, which unfortunately impacted many jobs.
