    Pros

Excellent pay, Medical and dental benefits are better than most anywhere else, 401k matching, 12 paid holidays annually and paid vacations, weekly meetings with upper management to discuss anything that may be going on, so communication is great between higher ups and lower level employees. Good chance of advancement for those who want to move up.

    Cons

Not many opportunities for overtime, so if you rely on it, you won't get it here. Upper management runs a "tight ship" so to speak, and policies are strictly enforced. If you have a hard time following strict guidelines and procedures, this is definitely not the place for you. Employees who can't adjust seem to disappear rather quickly. But, I suppose that is part of the reason the company is so successful.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time with individual work centers to better organize what works and what doesn't.

    Pros

DRS has been a very good company to me and I am proud to be associated with a company helps protect the men and women that serve in our armed forces. I have had promotional opportunities, have been treated fairly and enjoy what I do.

    Cons

My only challenge is the traffic in the WDC metro area.

    Advice to Management

    Continue communicating with the employees.

    Pros

Awesome supervisor and I could not ask for anyone better! Great pay, holiday scheduling, and ease of understanding to personal issues or personal time needed.

    Cons

The only bad thing which is not limited to DRS but all contracting obligations is the fact that contracts are not guaranteed and sometimes budgets are cut but that comes with the territory

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work. I would love to work with DRS again in the future and I will always recommend DRS to other people.

I have been working at DRS Technologies full-time

    Pros

Good people to work with. Opportunities to excel and move into other areas. Well compensated. Challenging but reasonable workload. Very intriguing technologies. Value of the work to our soldiers in the field.

    Cons

Not much training or orientation at mid level and above. Many aspects are self-taught.

    Advice to Management

As staffing is reduced become more proactive in deciding what work should be pursued with limited resources available.

I worked at DRS Technologies full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, nice group of employees to work with, involved in the company

    Cons

Layoffs each year for last 5 or 6 years due to cuts in Defense Budget, average raises

    Advice to Management

Try to proceed with further cuts as you have been by making them as painless as possible on all employees. It is very frightening thing to go threw The severance pay was such life saver don't know what I would have done without it. Thanks again.

    Pros

Excellent salary and benefits. Company culture is one that allows people to work autonomously and encourages idea sharing. HR department and Senior management provide excellent support and guidance. This company values people.

    Cons

The only con to working here is the unfortunate chance of termination because of an expiring contract. However, the company will work with you to obtain another suitable position if the person is willing to relocate.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work- You're doing it right.

I worked at DRS Technologies full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Speaking from my own experiences, I had an excellent relationship with management and I thought they did a great job of looking out for the employees. Salary and benefits were great. I had no complaints.

    Cons

As the company has grown over the years, the salary and benefits package for individual employees have slowly and gradually hollowed out, but still are great overall in comparison to other companies in my opinion.
