    I have been working at DS Services of America full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Dedicated front line employees, good work attitudes. Still have remnants of a past that is proud of the brand, although diminishing quickly.

    Cons

    Poor support structure, inadequate infrastructure for customer needs. Various departments with with goals that do not align with front line goal to take care of customer needs. Little to no presence of parent corporation to rectify these problems.

    Advice to Management

    A little support goes a long way. I am a long time employee, we are at our best when morale is high. That means having adequate resources for our needs, which means decision makers need to see what is happening in the field with their own eyes, not through filtered reports. Many of us truly do care about the level of quality we provide, and we can only go as far as the company allows. Get rid of fixed deliveries....

    Great pay and benefits Monday thru Friday

    Cons

    Poor management too much favoritism. Force selling to accounts. Don’t know how to treat their employees. Always threats of getting someone else to do our job if we can’t do it. Always telling us that if we don’t want to do our job to just leave. Paying employees for not delivering their load. Meaning, it was delivered by someone else rather than the person getting paid for it.

    Advice to Management

    Get retraining on how to treat people without threats of loosing our jobs. Be fair and do away with favoritism

      Pros

      This place is run by clowns. They aquire companies and lose their business almost immediately. They don't get customer service at all. They are greedy and don't care about the people who work for them or their customers. This is why I left not too long ago. Karma will always get ya...here it comes Tom Harrington, CEO-DS Services you chump.

      Idiot upper management giving idiot management demands on how to run this business. They get rid of anyone who knows anything about the business or they leave because this place sucks. So all that is left are idiot wannabes. You guys will lose business daily forever, because that's who you are. Losers.

      Advice to Management

      Get rid of yourselves or hire someone to do your job. None of you are worth a crap...you know it, I know it and everyone else knows it. Now beat it!

      It's a job! Good hours! Workmates are cool!! See different people thru out the day! Weekends off. Location of branch.

      Cons

      Upper management doesn't have a clue! A lot of discrimination going on and then swept under the rug! No accountability for managers. But put a lot of pressure on rsr's!!! Try to tell you how to do your job but they can't even do it!!

      Advice to Management

      Start being fair or you will have a lot of legal problems coming your way!

      Working on your own 98% of the time. coworkers were awesome to work with.

      Half of the routes don't generate enough money for the work and hours you put in.

      Increase pay rate and find ways to service big accounts more efficiently.

      The pay was good if you worked a good commissioned route...

      Cons

      Upper management sucks, long hours, they treat route drivers like no body even though they are the ones that bring money in for this company. They have no respect for their drivers. Things are always changing! No one can ever give you a straight answer to a question.

      Advice to Management

      Have more respect for the guys that make the money for this company, if it weren't for them you wouldn't have a company. Your upper management needs more training.

      Great group of hard working employees, paid Holidays and Vacations, 401k with up to 3% match, decent Medical Dental and vision. Pay depends on amount of work you put in. 12% commission only.

      Cons

      If your not organized and efficient your hourly will suffer greatly. The company constantly asks more and more of drivers, that are already stretched paper thin, without any pay increase. The call center is the biggest draw back the company has as they continually promise customers things that are not possible. Customers then expect what they are promised which means they are upset when you call them back to tell them...

      Advice to Management

      Happy employees make a great company better. Listen to the front line, they most likely know how to keep CUSTOMERS FOR LIFE. Call centers need more info regarding specific routes and what is possible before promises are made to customers. Routes with long commutes should receive higher commission rates or an hourly or per mile wage to compensate for sales time lost.

      Company is always finding new ways to increase the bottom line, (not so much a problem if they wouldnt screw with the employees pay). Product quality is getting worse by the day as the company continues their effort to decrease costs.       The pay is good, not great, just good. The insurance is better than most. Weekends off.

      Cons

      Very long hours. If you come back before 5pm you get accused of skipping stops. If you come back after 5pm, management will try to find that one thing you did wrong, and overlook the 50+ things you did right. There is no respect for the hard work or long hours you put in daily.       Respect your employees!! Your drivers are the ones who are on the front line and making contact with the customers first hand. They are the ones who are delivering the product in extreme heat, the bitter cold, rain, snow, in all kinds of weather.
