I worked at DS Services of America full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great nesting program, good employee culture, decent hourly.

    Cons

No busy work, breaks to short- no real way to destress inbetween calls. High stress from repeat calls/cancellations from consumers.

    Advice to Management

Be transparent with post-nesting employees about what can / cannot be done for customers. Whats happening in the company over all with deliveries.

    Pros

Management is open to ideas, sets reasonable goals, and is sensitive to employees' needs, good location for me

    Cons

No real cons. If you aren't open to communicating with your manager or supervisor, it will appear your voice is not being heard.

I have been working at DS Services of America full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There are very some hardworking and knowledgeable people.

    Cons

-No one in the company received a bonus in 2017. No one, hourly or salary, received a raise in 2017 either. Most associates and mangers are underpaid. The company pays way below industry standards.
-They cut the 401k match to 1% in 2016. Insurance prices go up every year.
-CEO is known to single out and humiliate associates in public settings. No one questions him unless they want to be berated.
-When they cut the 401k, CEO sent out a company wide email explaining how it was because of the company's poor financial performance. The tone of the message was "because you all suck." That's his usual communication style.
-Everyone's bonus is based 100% on EBITDA, you literally have zero control over payout. As a manager, you could be killing it and blowing all of your KPIs and performance goals out of the water, but the circus as a whole fails and you get nothing for it. Makes it hard to find motivation or feel any sense of purpose.
-Senior management lacks a clear business strategy. Company falls well below financial goals. Something like $40 million in the negative in 2016 and 2017 looks pretty rocky as well. Looking around at the dysfunction and avoidable problems, it is not hard to see why.
-Necessary operating supplies or services are regularly unavailable or "on hold" because the corporate office hasn't paid the bills.
-Severely understaffed and the problem compounds as overworked, underpaid people flee. Turnover is high. I guess you could look at that as opportunity to advance...
    - A lot of "plant managers" spend a good amount of their time driving forklifts or working the line, because they are so understaffed and/or can't keep people. Many plant mangers have even been stripped of title and are now called "supervisors." The workload is the same and they are still the top person managing the facility, but justifies a lower pay grade.
-The company doesn't invest in infrastructure. Plants and equipment are falling apart and inefficient because they are neglected. Trucks are unsafe to be on the road. They announce a new acquisition every other week with a philosophy that "buying customers is easier than finding new ones." Then they run them off with awful customer service and junk coolers that leak everywhere.
-There is no talent development or training strategy. No guidance on your career development. Training program is nonexistent.
-The company culture is one of extreme disengagement. DS will drain the enthusiasm out of the best talent. People feel defeated, unhappy, unmotivated, and unappreciated. It keeps getting worse.

I worked at DS Services of America full-time

    Pros

I gained some valuable experience in my field while working there and had some great co-workers.

    Cons

The company prides itself on how many acquisitions they've made rather than the service they provide to customers. Management not qualified to make decisions at a lemonade stand let alone a real company.
