    Pros

Your truck is your office, Weekly pay, nice starting wage, paid to earn class B CDL, stress free environment (no accountability),

    Cons

Piss-poor and disconnected management at every level, fleet is embarrassing, staffing, holiday delivery scheduling, everything related to current operating systems.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to step their game up to the level of your expectations of others. NW Region is extremely unqualified. In fact, clueless is a more applicable term. This region currently has the equivalent of a substitute PE teacher in charge of your entire operation. It is an absolute joke.

    Pros

It's a job! Good hours! Workmates are cool!! See different people thru out the day! Weekends off. Location of branch.

    Cons

Upper management doesn't have a clue! A lot of discrimination going on and then swept under the rug! No accountability for managers. But put a lot of pressure on rsr's!!! Try to tell you how to do your job but they can't even do it!!

    Advice to Management

Start being fair or you will have a lot of legal problems coming your way!

    Pros

The pay was good if you worked a good commissioned route...

    Cons

Upper management sucks, long hours, they treat route drivers like no body even though they are the ones that bring money in for this company. They have no respect for their drivers. Things are always changing! No one can ever give you a straight answer to a question.

    Advice to Management

Have more respect for the guys that make the money for this company, if it weren't for them you wouldn't have a company. Your upper management needs more training.

I have been working at DS Services of America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great group of hard working employees, paid Holidays and Vacations, 401k with up to 3% match, decent Medical Dental and vision. Pay depends on amount of work you put in. 12% commission only.

    Cons

If your not organized and efficient your hourly will suffer greatly. The company constantly asks more and more of drivers, that are already stretched paper thin, without any pay increase. The call center is the biggest draw back the company has as they continually promise customers things that are not possible. Customers then expect what they are promised which means they are upset when you call them back to tell them otherwise. There are two things that come from upset customers;either they quit service or they get free product. Which means the overworked driver loses commission either way. I've been mentioning these problems for three years now and nothing is ever done to remedy such simple problems. It must equate to millions in lost revenue. As well as the lost man hours and fuel wasted while trying to correct the ongoing lack of proper management. The company will also drop prices below an acceptable rate which will leave commission based employees doing a ton of work for very little compensation.

    Advice to Management

Happy employees make a great company better. Listen to the front line, they most likely know how to keep CUSTOMERS FOR LIFE. Call centers need more info regarding specific routes and what is possible before promises are made to customers. Routes with long commutes should receive higher commission rates or an hourly or per mile wage to compensate for sales time lost.

    Pros

The best thing about working for this company is that you are not required to buy your way into a route, they provide you with everything you need to run a route for them. They actually pay overtime after 40 hours worked but, how they calculate the rate is not the best for you.

    Cons

Holiday weeks are the worst considering you get an extra day off but, you still end up working the same amount of hours, just a lot of longer days to cover the holiday. Everyone of the water route representatives hates the way they are treated by management, except one manager. They care about the water side of the business ten times as much as the coffee. You are just a number to them so that the management can get a bonus at the end of the year. You have to work way to many hours and have no say in it. The H.R. department is NOT neutral like it is suppose to be.

    Advice to Management

When you look into weather you or not you have a problem (based on statistics) at a specific location you really need to talk to everyone of your route drivers to get the real story of how they feel and an anonymous survey would be worth considering, if you really want the truth. Yes, when your turnover rate is sky high considered to other locations you have a management style problem. No one cares to be threatened but, that is what happens in Phoenix, more than I care to mention.
