    Pros

DST-GS is a global company which allows you the opportunity to travel and move around in the company. There is a lot of flexibility within departments and the chances for growth are great but you have to be a self advocate and use the tools made available to you. There is on onsite Learning Management System which allows you to take online courses on the product and offers IT courses free of charge on your down time.

    Cons

You have to advocate for yourself and be able to teach yourself if not the learning curve for the products and the systems is a lot steeper.

    Advice to Management

Management is very approachable, however some times micromanaging may occur...

    Pros

Nice people and in a good market (order management systems). Location in Boston is nice as well. Vacation and benifits about average for the Boston area.

    Cons

Company can't seem to get enough traction to do well enough to give the company and employees some optimism. Employee turnover seemed high.

    Advice to Management

    none

I worked at DST Global Solutions full-time

    Pros

At DST they had some great people working there and also great benefits. I had a good manager which helped!

    Cons

It's a large business so hard to get much exposure when staying in one role. But i guess it's fine when moving within the company.

    Advice to Management

No advice, really enjoyed my experience there and thought the company ethos was great. Like the town hall meetings which made you feel part of a big team.

    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

The developers, analysts, testers, etc are really good people
    Location is OK

    Cons

The management are incredibly arrogant and at least a decade behind in management practices
Very much carrot and stick approach (the stick is used a lot)
You need to be in the favourites club (the inner circle) to be heard
SS&C are a truly horrible company. Profit above all else
    There is no career path
The product is approaching "death spiral" stage, haemorrhaging badly
Poor management has driven morale to below 0
Poor management has seen a lot of good, experienced people leave.

    Advice to Management

Management is appalling. The last couple of years has been the worst management I've ever worked under. Closed minds and appalling lack of awareness about how things could be done. Will not trust people, micromanagement is rampant. Morale has been driven to levels where it is quite possibly unrecoverable without a major overhaul (that is bring in new management that know how to lead).

I have been working at DST Global Solutions full-time

    Pros

Free water, no charge for using the toilets (yet)

    Cons

SS&C is a truly horrible organisation led by wealth hungry sociopaths, trying to monopolise the market. I feel truly sorry for their customers who are fleeced for outdated products with zero interest in providing after sale customer service. Which company goes through a 50% redundancy program and those who leave are the lucky ones? Definitely this one! Not many people left behind want to be there - except for the few senior managers left behind maybe who try to convince themselves this is still a company worth their blood and sweat.

    Advice to Management

Making threats to staff about bonuses and pay rises is not exactly the way to make people work harder or care more about you. You've created a culture of sharks which you are happy about now but maybe one day they'll grow big enough to bite back. Plenty of people across the SS&C Tech organisation don't lift a finger and get away with it despite your "you won't mess with us" attitude
