I have been working at DST Output full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Love the people Interesting Technology Projects Fair/Good Benefits External Training & Conf's provided for IT

    Cons

Most positions of power go to men, with less knowledge & experience. Many women in middle mgmt, but few Directors or above. External hires qualify for higher pay scales than internal candidates. Forces really good personnel to leave the company, change your resume and come back in order to land a higher paying job. HR's hands are tied on percentage of increases available to internal applicants. Vanilla Job Titles - Don't state Work/Job function Dental Benefits extremely limited.

  2. "Company needs improvement for its employers"

I have been working at DST Output

    Pros

When working locally you have a great team to work with and things can get done quickly and efficiently.

    Cons

A lot of development work across time zones makes it very difficult to get things done on time and of a high quality. Most development has been done overseas. There is also a lot of red tape when it comes to implementing new technology, which can bring development to a stand still and lead to employee dissatisfaction. Lastly, you get very little recognition for doing hard work and pulling late nights to get things done.

I worked at DST Output full-time

    Pros

Lots of variety because of the diversity of the business (manufacturing, software development, professional services, consulting). Plenty of opportunity to move up the corporate ladder. Fast paced so very few "lulls".

    Cons

Some disconnectedness between departments and locations. Cultural change is very slow and mighty unpleasant. Management/executive ranks are male-dominant; you do see some women move up but not nearly as often or as quickly as the men. Some positions have to work a lot of OT because their teams are understaffed.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at DST Output full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

You'd have to be really, really bad to get fired. People can work their entire lives at DST Output. You can make a lot of friends.

    Cons

Too few people to do the work, so it's really hard to do your job good. The place is stuck in the past and is extremeley antiquated. It's a good old boys club where favoritism and nepotism is played. Their technology and processes are really outdated. They don't really seem to care about the customers. It's a place where just good enough rules. They used to care about the employees - now we are just "resources".

I have been working at DST Output full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Great coworkers. Friendly people. People have worked there for many years. If you're happy doing what you're doing, you can continue doing it for many years.

    Cons

Poor management. Limited growth potential. Old technology and slow to bring on new technology. The culture of the company has changed for the negative.

I worked at DST Output for more than 10 years

    Pros

Coworkers and work can keep your going. Corporate discounts on many things, but nothing out of ordinary. There are many people who have been working here for 10+ years so depending upon the team/area you work in, it could be a great place to be. Business casual dress. Working from home allowed with approval.

    Cons

Corporate office in Kansas City. Sometimes there could be confusion over who is calling the shots. Work has deadlines and production support required working evenings/nights and weekends with no additional pay, leading to dissatisfaction for some.

I worked at DST Output full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Solid benefits, lots of diversity, large company, different locations worldwide.

    Cons

Deadlines and priorities are constantly changing, aging machines with huge turnover of staff for maintenance. Huge employee turnover rates especially maintenance. Always asked to do more with less. HR department is different at each site different rules enforced differently.

    "West Coast Mafia"

    StarStarStarStarStar
    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

I worked at DST Output for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good industry leader for mailing industry. Is creative and willing to try new solutions to old problems.

    Cons

Management needs to look inside themselves. Many are not competent or qualified to lead. Need to give the local team more opportunities to excel. Stop using the West Coast mafia to fill everything.
