I worked at DST Systems full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay was good. Started at 17 an hour for phone job. Overtime opportunities, managers are nice. Hours of operation are good. I worked on the health insurance side. The interview was easy. If your good, very good, volunteer for projects. This leads to very easy advancement. Hour long lunches!

    Cons

Overtime can be mandatory. Because the company is also financial, they do fingerprints which is ok but really inconvenient to do. The training was terrible. I was in training and wrote training materials. Coming from the industry, listening to other people calls, miss information was given constantly due to poor training. There is not enough communication between the clients and the employees.

FYI: I worked on the top floor, so if you have an ear infection, the elevators cause vertigo.

    Advice to Management

Get better trainers and make sure they know what they are talking about.

I worked at DST Systems full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great place for getting started with little to no experience. Corporate training is robust.

    Cons

If you start your career there and don't move on you will likely remain underpaid.

    Advice to Management

Career development is great but compensation is what drove me and my peers away.

I have been working at DST Systems full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Love working with the people! Those who I work closest with care about others and work hard to achieve our company's goals. My work is relevant and helps others do their jobs better.

    Cons

Change management is lacking. I don't think anyone likes negative surprises. We are also not being transparent when change impacts employees' engagement at work. We need to get better at that.

    Advice to Management

Communicate change more; be more transparent; put people first. Senior leaders and executives, collectively, need to consistently walk the talk to move the business forward, drive and shape our culture and ignite change.

I have been working at DST Systems full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Self-insured so very good insurance. I've gotten a merit increase every year. While the merit may not stay with or ahead of inflation, one was given.

    Cons

When I first started at DST, it was THE company to work for and I was excited to get an internship while still in college. The company is no longer THE company to work for but it is the company to get laid off from, it is the company where its employees are HOPING to get laid off so they can get away from the low morale, the lack of appreciation from upper management, the lack of promotions, the degradation/abuse allowed from clients, low performance reviews driven off of requests from upper mgmt to lower ratings across the board versus being rated on your actual performance, budgets in the red yet money is spent on new elevators (for efficiency), statues of prior CEO's, internal software package(s) to evaluate efficiencies that cost millions of dollars that is as buggy as a high school project all while the work increases with less associates who must do their daily work as well as babysitting the work done oversees, which often means doubling the domestic work, expected after hours work including weekends, no work/home balance.

Finally and most important to me, DST tends to be a hostile workplace for women if you are passionate about your work and strive to improve your work environment and your professional self.
