I have been working at DST Systems full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I've had many opportunities to move around the company, in part because I've worked hard to increase my skill set. While I have read about problems with managers, I've been fortunate to have direct supervisors who advocated on my behalf to obtain promotions, new opportunities, and otherwise support my career growth over the past decade.
I've enjoyed working alongside long-tenured associates willing to share the depth of their knowledge, and enjoyed mentoring new hires alike.
Management is finally upgrading our ancient technology stacks.

    Cons

Benefits have been cut repeatedly due to changes/instability in the markets we serve. The cuts were necessary for financial reasons. I find the benefits are still decent, just not as generous as they once were.
Numerous transformations underway is causing culture shock cross the company. There is a lot of resistance to change from long-tenured associates, even though the changes are absolutely needed.
Due to the transformations and team shuffling, there are fewer opportunities opening up around the company in general. Additionally, a lot of programming work once done by domestic associates is being shipped off shore, further reducing opportunities state side.
HR leaves a lot to be desired. I haven't recommended this company to my peers in a couple of years as a result of experiences with HR, particularly recruiting/hiring.

    Advice to Management

Improve the partnership between business units and HR, such that each supports the others need and provides adequate direction.
Communications have increased; continue increasing transparency through open, honest discussion about the direction the company is moving.

I have been working at DST Systems full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good people work here. Health Care Industry has a strong future. There are opportunities to learn new things.

    Cons

The company has been restructuring its compensation packages. They are still reasonably good packages (health care, 401K, PTO) but are reduced. A lot of the senior people have been hurt by these changes because existing packages were not Grandfathered in.

    Advice to Management

Have a bit more respect for the employees. They want more honest answers about the changes and how it fits into the new direction of the company. You hired smart people, you should treat them that way.

    Pros

Decent salaries and benefits for new hires. Internship program offers competitive pay and great perks.

    Cons

Pretty regular layoffs which are very discouraging to everyone who remains employed. The industry itself is very unstable which leaves DST and its employees in a very uncomfortable position of not knowing how the future will look. The atmosphere is very old school and generally negative.
