I have been working at DST Systems full-time

    Pros

    Not really any to name

    Cons

I leave DST after 6 months with very mixed feelings. Most people are friendly, but many were not. The group I worked in did not do much. I leave with very little to show for my time here. I surfed the internet a lot.

    Advice to Management

Too many people doing too little work. Need to evaluate all the departments to see what can be changed.

I have been working at DST Systems full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I've had many opportunities to move around the company, in part because I've worked hard to increase my skill set. While I have read about problems with managers, I've been fortunate to have direct supervisors who advocated on my behalf to obtain promotions, new opportunities, and otherwise support my career growth over the past decade.
I've enjoyed working alongside long-tenured associates willing to share the depth of their knowledge, and enjoyed mentoring new hires alike.
Management is finally upgrading our ancient technology stacks.

    Cons

Benefits have been cut repeatedly due to changes/instability in the markets we serve. The cuts were necessary for financial reasons. I find the benefits are still decent, just not as generous as they once were.
Numerous transformations underway is causing culture shock cross the company. There is a lot of resistance to change from long-tenured associates, even though the changes are absolutely needed.
Due to the transformations and team shuffling, there are fewer opportunities opening up around the company in general. Additionally, a lot of programming work once done by domestic associates is being shipped off shore, further reducing opportunities state side.
HR leaves a lot to be desired. I haven't recommended this company to my peers in a couple of years as a result of experiences with HR, particularly recruiting/hiring.

    Advice to Management

Improve the partnership between business units and HR, such that each supports the others need and provides adequate direction.
Communications have increased; continue increasing transparency through open, honest discussion about the direction the company is moving.

    Pros

DST is a good company to work for. 401k. Benefits. Friendly coworkers. A lot of employees have been there a long time. Job doesn't require a ridiculous amount of hours.

    Cons

A lot of directors and VPs. Not a clear path up. They are always switching the path and plan moving forward.

I worked at DST Systems full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed the co-workers you get so close it's like family
We celebrated birthdays and special occassions like with a potluck
The company match 401K and its investment options
The insurance packages are great health, dental, vision, life
The atmosphere of the buildings are great with the remodeling
Centrally located in downtown Kansas City, MO
They promote and hire within the company

    Cons

Management was never available always in meetings
    High turnover
Training could be better, you don't really learn until you hit the floor
They give you responsibilities outside your title and pay without compensation or recognition
Associates had no control on the floor when it came to keeping personal conversations low
Overtime was constant for months straight even out of season- come in before shift and mandatory lunch overtime
Management would not take request for manager calls even though they are available request callers to wait for call back
Request for time off not always approved even tho was expressed months back
Super high call volume- depends on your client
    No team huddles or meetings
    Raises are small-pennies
No grace period- a minute late gets you an occurrence- 7 occurances max- stays on your record for a year and no half occurrences
    Not all management is knowledgeable
Resource used for information is not all that easy to use or get which leads you to need assistance from fellow associate's because there is a 85% chance a knowledgeable manager or senior staff is available for your client

    Advice to Management

    See above and fix it
Stop treating us like numbers and actually care
Be more involved with your team
Bring back team huddles and meetings
Do more for customer appreciation day than give us chapstick
    LISTEN TO YOUR EMPLOYEES
