I worked at DTE Energy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good job security (a utility in a regulated environment). Talented, motivated, and helpful co-workers. Great opportunity to learn and develop knowledge and skills about a variety of subjects. Good benefits.

    Cons

Bad work-life balance, which leads to a high turnover rate of base level employees. All management has a short life expectancy (2 years max in their position), which means they don't have incentive to help things long term. They push hard for short term wins, which often leads to long term headaches. Prioritization is 100% reactionary, without successful planning to achieve long term goals.

    Advice to Management

Work collectively. Don't intentionally hurt long term goals for temporary short term gains. If a strategy is not solving problems, stop using it. Just because an idea was used before does not mean it is a good idea to use again.
