I have been working at DaVita full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

To beat is a great company it really tries to make the employees happy, and tries to follow their mission and values.

    Cons

Poor health insurance one of the worst I've ever had. If that was fixed, it would be hard for Teammates to find issues with the company.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees about the concerns with the insurance many issues with it, and no one seems to be trying to fix it.

    Pros

Great culture. Truly positive, uplifting, consistent message from upper management.
Fun environment with building wide events on a regular basis.
    Truly mission-driven company.

    Cons

Salary is at the low end of the market.
Benefits and time off are minimal.
Growing pains in the IT department. Although, this is slowly improving.

    Advice to Management

Continue with the corporate mission. Patients should always be the company's main focus.
Simplify the organizational structure in IT. Weed out the IT leaders that don't represent the tone of the corporate culture, particularly those that are verbally abusive.

"Was once a great company. Core mission changed two years ago, and the company culture went out the window."

I worked at DaVita (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Mission and values used to be omnipresent, which made for a great environment. Even in opposition, you never doubted the good intentions of all parties.

    Cons

Former CIO never had an idea he didn't read in a magazine while on a plane. Epitome of the old construction joke of a new carpenter: "I've cut this board three times, and its still too short."

    Advice to Management

Too late, they have proceeded down the path to the dark side, and it now forever dominates their destiny. The DaVita that was once famous as a case study in business schools no longer exists.

I worked at DaVita full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Despite many reports of low salaries, I found DaVita's compensation to be fair.

    Cons

Clueless senior management in IT. CIO never had an idea he didn't get from reading CIO magazine.

    Advice to Management

I think most of the bad eggs are gone, but your not the company you were five years ago, when you really made a positive difference in people's lives.

I have been working at DaVita full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Company focused on patient care and outcomes.
Always share the profit with the entire company, not just stock holders.
Community feel instead of corporate company.
    Employee Stock Purchase program available.

    Cons

Could be more advanced with their IT technologies. Tend to be playing catch up instead of putting the money out before hand.
No 401 K matching but they give quarterly profit sharing to the entire village.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the Middle Management teams, they are the ones with the real data for customer and clinician support needs.Support teams need to be funded for long term commitments; with the rate of turnover in the field there will always be high call volume and application support needed.

    Cons

    Lack of IT leadership
    Confusing budgeting processes
IT is in too many silos

    Advice to Management

Get a strong IT leader in place that knows IT best practices

I have been working at DaVita full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very good people to work. Everyone has a real passion for what they are doing.
The company offers great training to it's teammates.

    Cons

IT can never get ahead because the business partners feel empowered to make IT decisions. There is a huge lack of focus, direction, and IT strategy with little to no process.
The whole notion that IT is always "RED" just sucks and I wish the leadership would help us turn it around.
If you want to mature and be a technologist this is not the right place to work.

    Advice to Management

The whole notion that IT is always "RED" just sucks and I wish the leadership would help us turn it around.
Learn to be more proactive versus reactive.
