I have been working at DaVita full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This company really believes in investing in it's "teammates". The company itself truly believes in it's core values which is difficult to find in corporate America these days. As in any large corporation (DaVita is a Fortune 200 company), it is up to the leadership at the facility level to really create an environment where the team also feels those core values at play. Professional development is taken very seriously, and there are so many training curriculums and growth opportunities to help equip teammates at every level to do their job well and create opportunity for advancement--most of which include traveling which is a plus for many people (myself included) I've made really good professional connections at several trainings I have attended, many that have turned into friendships that I believe will follow me.

    Cons

The company considers itself the gold standard of the dialysis industry. With that said, there are challenges for any role. There are metrics to meet and policies to adhere to. This may be a con to some people who are just looking to collect a check. In my opinion, being challenged is a positive, especially when the company does try to provide you with the tools and resources to be successful.

I worked at DaVita full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Company values training for employees. Opportunity for advancement and cross-training in different areas of the clinic. Patients come first in most cases.

    Cons

Tech to patient ratio is not as consistent as it used to be. Understaffing affects patient and teammate. Administration not valuing staff efforts. Understaffing and retention as increased in last year.

    Advice to Management

Have adequate staffing daily. Do not overwork staff, this causes burnout

I worked at DaVita full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Having a pay check every 2 weeks and a couples of good people I met in the 8 years of been on the company.

    Cons

Long hours of work 12 to 17 at times. Poor management, neglected employee, facility was patient driven the patient called the shot. management did whatever the patient wants. Until the point of humiliating the employee t hat was my reason to resigning. Some managers are afraid of taking disciplinary action with a minority group that she was afraid of. some workers are oberworked while others live the good life.

    Advice to Management

Just realized that the employees are also human being and do not take sides. Not a good environment to work unless you get an strong manager with no fear.

I worked at DaVita full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Some nice people ( not FAs or higher ). The money. Cool patients. Nothing else, but I need a word minimum.

    Cons

Political. Favoritism. In my time at DaVita, I knew five people whom became bosses. There was a lot (a LOT) of sleeping around, married or not. Sometimes the boss married the employee. They claim to have Integrity, but I've personally witnessed a hell of a lot of fraud. I'm a kidney patient whom had a kidney transplant. An administrator put me to part time via text. Lost my insurance...and my kidney. Don't they have enough patients? I worked for DaVita for eight years.
    Zero, I mean, negative Integrity.

Also, they retaliate. Watch yourself. If you ask too many questions, you're treated pretty poorly. I neither work nor treat at Davita anymore. Why would I?

Reuse? Gross. At least they stopped that disgusting practice. But the clinics aren't clean.

    Advice to Management

Seriously fire everyone. Start over. Stop wearing that ridiculous costume.

    Pros

    Employee stock purchase plan
    Food with meetings
Tuition reimbursement, but far less than Fresenius

    Cons

Work 6o hours per week and still don't get everything done.
    Very poor FA training.
Too many reports that have the same info
FA role is 24/7: 365 days/yr-especially if u are an RN and can work the floor
Chairside Snappy is from the 1970's!! Ever heard of Windows 95!!!
    Too many new initiatives.
Way too much focus on metrics
Clinical support team is rude and obnoxious
Don't put any money into existing clinics.
Many policies that don't make clinical sense and haven't been used in the rest of the dialysis world for 20+ years.
    Absolutely no work/life balance
Untrue bonus structure is presented when interviewing.
Make less than being a floor nurse.

    Advice to Management

Don't have FA's work the floor.
    Orient/train your FA's.
    Present truthful bonus structure.
Get a charting system that is not DOS based/looks like Pong
    Consolidate/eliminate many programs and initiatives
Have a teammate educator, like Fresenius, instead of having the FA do it.
Stop all courtesy draws and antibiotics that are not dialysis related.
Get rid of almost every champion role.
Quit focusing so much on uncontrollable missed txs.
Act like a Fortune 500 company.
Also, worst and most expensive healthcare plans I have ever seen.

I have been working at DaVita full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fun environment even thought there are long hours.

    Cons

Too many cliques and not enough time to provide adequate care between patients. Different rules apply to different employees. No consistency with weekly hours.

    Advice to Management

When an employee comes to you in confidence conversations should be kept as such.
