    Pros

    4 weeks vacation + 1 week off between Christmas and New Years, most federal holidays off, Christmas bonsuses, discount on Mercedes Benz, 6% match on 401k, 2 free days off a year to volunteer, lots of social events, on site cafeteria and coffee shop, ability to work from home, tons of opportunity for upward mobility. Want leadership? There are opportunities to get into management if you want it

    Lifestyle, location, facilities, support for moving positions, company focus on employees

    Cons

    Compensation is largely based on current salary when moving jobs, HR will not engage in conversations about compensation, compensation is not competitive for non-engineering jobs that require technical skills (computer science, business intelligence, quantitative analysis). 401K match and insurance costs are nice benefits but HR pitches them as better than they are compared to other companies. Not getting paid a... competitive wage eliminates be benefits of an otherwise positive workplace.

    Advice to Management

    Your employees are smart people and know what their roles are worth. If you want employees around, pay them. Basing salary largely on previous salary is not a good way of keeping employees or having an engaged workforce. If you want to be a leader in technology fields you have to compensate employees who will get you there.

    Pros

    The people, culture, and general variety of challenges are near top-notch. The company wants to innovate and everyone is motivated to push forward. Modern transportation topics are really beginning to pick up. Leaders as managers of personnel are usually very good. The overall experience, on a daily basis, is actually quite a joy. Finally, since it is part of a global company, there is some space to entertain... opportunities globally.

    Cons

    Leadership decisions are a long slog bogged down by never-ending layers bureaucracy . Finance and HR have a hold on even small to medium-sized efforts. At times hiring and project approval can take more than a year regardless of whether or not they've been approved by leadership. Pay for technical positions falls far short of average competitive rates.

    Advice to Management

    Fix compensation. It is woefully inadequate. Take trade-offs more seriously and invest more in newer topics. Reduce adminstrative overhead and empower individual departments to make there own investment and hiring decisions to a degree. Do more to retain talent once they are brought on-board.
